for a Mac you can replace it with a .png image but on Windows you would right click>properties>changeicon. Then browse to whichever icon you want instead and select it. Windows can only use .ico files though, which are a lot more irritating to find.

See, I changed the Flash 8 icon on mine, finally, and I learned what rainmeter is and how to remove the shortcut arrows and text from them haha.
