Realistic graphics in a first-person shooter with stick figures for enemies? Am I doing it wrong?

I mean, give an opinion on how that would work... hyper-realistic graphics with 3D stickmen thrown in.

If it's your original creation and you need to ask "Am I doing everything wrong?", then yeah you probably are. This is a creative pursuit and you're the creator, if you don't know what you're doing then you've already failed.

Yes. What you should be doing is cartoon graphics from a viability standpoint. sure you can go for realism, but a simple cel-shaded/cartoon look is normally expected when stickmen are involved. also, considering you have horrible colorblindness/design skills based on your profile and game signature image, cel-shading might help simplify the process.

Unity3d for example, comes with a great built in cel shader. it's simple and works well. the program itself is also great. I also wouldn't be announcing the project to the world this early. I've been working on my own idea for a unity3d game, but it's nowhere near ready to announce. think of it this way: if all you have is a logo, not screenshots or preferably a playable demo, don't tell the world. I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but you're coming off VERY noob-y. you could already have a working prototype, but the kind of person who makes posts like this tends to be a 12yo with ambitions much much higher than his skill level. the horrible profile coloring doesn't help with it.

So here are my suggestions:

use something easy, yet expandable for fps, not fps creator or game maker, more like udk or unity3d (for all i know, you could be coding it from scratch in c++, I don't know your skills, your posts just seem to reflect to me you lack them)

Use CEL SHADING. Please, hyper realism and stickmen are complete opposites. this is your creative choice, but realism also means real hard work. coding a cel shader can be difficult, but unity comes with a great one you can use in any project by importing it.

if it's a fps, it needs atleast two things to survive/be noted. Multiplayer and Zombies. I know this is exactly what call of duty boils down to, but you can easily build a zombie wave PVE defense for the single player part, then using unity3d's relatively easy networking, restructure and bug proof for a multiplayer PVP mode. would take all of 3 to 6 months to make.

also, zombies are stupid! they just walk to the player and attack! unless you want to do a ton of work on pathfinding ai for npc soldiers, i'd go with zombies

Now, you could be an amazing artist/coder but again, you're not coming off that way. you seriously need to consider not only how your work will be percieved, but also how you are percieved. you aren't coming off bad, just immature. if you do lack the skills as you seem from your need for outside opinions on something we haven't even seen yet, take my advice to make the game do-able for you. if i'm wrong and you know what the fuck you're doing, you need to show this when you post. when you make a logo. when you set up your profile, etc.

please note, I'm NOT talking about the brony nature to your avatar/signature. that's erm. well that's another issue but i don't need to get into it here.
edit: holy shit forgot the word not.

Ok dude, if you want to promote your game, try putting a link in your sig, instead of your ginormous image. Your thread is buried like 3 pages deep because there have been no updates.

the 3d movement/code is alright ish (actually, very good, I rewatched and despite the horrible framerate, could see working easing and smoothing in the angle and such), but the weapons themselves are horribly inaccurate. glocks do not have a hammer. they use a striker system. inside the slide. I'd be able to help you if you're 100% commited to this. though i'm honestly not sure if you would take it. vertigo is being ok!, but as impressive as the movement code of the game is, the actual art assets leave alot to be desired. using images without much modifications is a pretty big no-no. I still am guilty of using google images in my own personal stuff, but it's best to like, find images you can use from public domain/wikipedia/creative commons or open source preferably on deviant art/etc. Wikipedia is actually really stepping up their game with image quality. a ton of guns have great reference photos on there.

Also, if you need examples of my work i can provide some, most of the stuff i've done since my last HD crash has been low-poly (i enjoy it more, but I've done higher counts before and stuff)

pretty sure this was a "my game was a failure give me ur sympathy plx" thread, not a "i'm genuinely interested in fixing what's wrong with my game, if anybody can give me serious advice or assistance would be great" thread

If you're asking what you've done wrong, show us anything that we can say you've done wrong, so we can help you overcome some of the things you as an induvidual are struggling with.
Or this thread is pointless.
However, realistic stickfi-....no.
