By resources do you mean art requests for websites and such?
Or brushes and renders and shit?

How do clipping masks work?

I know how to make a clipping mask, but it either does something opposite of what I wanted or doesn't do anything at all. I'm assuming it has something to do with only showing certain parts of a layer, and those parts are highlighted in the layer you apply the mask to.. still, I can't do anything with it.

Also, do you know of any sites other than Planet Renders for renders?

I can answer that.

To do a clipping mask, you make two new layers, then apply image on the top one. If you draw something on the bottom layer (it doesn't matter what) then press control+alt+g on the top layer it makes a clipping mask. Now if you move the top layer around it shows a different part of the sig.

I'll make an example in a bit if you want.

renders:
www.gamerenders.com
www.planetrenders.net
http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/UG_renders/?start=all
http://iphotoshop.org/renders/ - MASSIVE database, seriously immense.

clipping masks work like this:
make a new layer. brush two or three small dots on it. then make a new layer above that, go to image->apply image with default settings. then right click the apply image layer and select create clipping mask. then hit ctrl+t and move it around. you'll see how it works. works best with splatter brushes.

I'll mess with it and see if I can get it to work. Otherwise I could use an example.

Edit: Yeah I got it. Thanks!

Theres lost of sites for renders.

Those are hundreds of game wallpapers, which you can always turn into renders, though you should expirement with stocks.

With the clipping mask, when you do Apply Image, make sure you have the part that you will want in the clipping mask showing, so you might want to make some layers invisible.

Another question. How would you go around making line effects like these...

Where do you open patterns anyway?

I can't find it anywhere.

Edit: I mean, I have the actual file in the patterns folder. How do I open them in PS?
