Nice, not much actual work done yet. But you got it apart without breaking anything.

You're going to keep the colored buttons of aesthetics right? Or find some way to make it look like the buttons are still there?

I just realized this would work alot better with a rock band controller...

yeah... im tired and this is all i can do without waking the parents. the idea i had about the buttons was that i would put a rod of wood under it, and maybe glue the buttons on it.
UPDATE: hmmm... i just realised. i might need to fill in the neck and the body soon... this might be a little more work than i thought... oh well, it will be a fun project. TOMOROW: i hope to finish the button thing, along with sanding the fretboard down, and i hope to fill in the body, sand down the insides, and take down the sides of the strum bar.

I was actually going to take a block of plastic with no acoustic qualities and make it into a guitar.

Why the harassment? Its doable to put an electric guitar into a guitar hero controller body and its just a tinkering hobby if you don't have anything to contribute just leave the thread alone.

sorry, i cant do any work for an hour or so involving sawing. but i was going to ask, what type of wood should i use for the body and stuff?
UPDATE: i am soon going to chisel out the cavity where i will put the buttons.

UPDATE: i am currently marking out the drill holes so that the wood can fit into the neck and stuff. also making a cavity inside so the buttons can go there.

Yeah it is your bad. This is a stupid idea and won't ever work. Go watch how a guitar is made and you'll see why, a lot of science and shit goes into a guitar. It's not just wood with a hole in it, a shaft and some strings.

I don't think it really matters what kind of wood you use since it won't be seen anyways. Just pick a strong wood that can handle the stress the guitar stings put onto it. Make sure you leave room for the hardware though, you don't want to just fill it with wood...

i think that i might just make it a semi-hollow, because then i could make some of this stuff easier.
this sucks trying to do all this by hand...
