"Yeah, well if I started showing off I'd destroy this place. Not that I care"
I heard a voice say so from far, far away; and I reacted. Breaking off my meditation, I stared at the sun, as I did so many times before, beseeching it to come down and give battle to me, so that I might be released from this life, this curse my life has become.
But as so many times before, the true gods despise me; none would end my suffering, not even the most generous amongst them. For my arrogance, I still walk the earth, even when all of our kind was dead, even when the new species had sprung up, even when everything had changed; I must walk the earth forever, seeking sweet defeat from the hands of others; for victory has soured and bittered, and defeat is now unattainable.
But not today. Today I have heard of a band of warriors. Rock Hard Gladiators, they call themselves. And one has mentioned possessing extreme powers, too. Mayhap, amongst them, I shall finally find defeat and the eternal sleep that the Gods had so cruelly denied me.
I close my eyes, feeling the breeze of the winds, in the same canyon where my master resided all these years ago. But all is different now. All has changed.
And I open my eyes to face the real world once more.
It is a good day to run.
With that, I leapt outwards, the almost unlimited strength I am cursed with giving my leap the power to propel myself forwards at an alarming rate.
Quickening my strides, I tore through the desert at the sound of the voice.
For I knew him.
Long before he came here, I had heard tell of he who destroyed entire worlds.
Gorsgan, Rage Incarnate.
He shall present a good challenge. Even if he cannot defeat me, my making an enemy of him shall be useful.
And I tore through the deserts, faster even than the vultures that soar above me, leaping higher and longer with every single stride;
And I was there.
The lounge of the Gladiators.
Crashing hard into the ground in front of the building, leaving a few cracks on the concrete to announce my arrival, I gave a roar. The same roar that had once leveled an entire wall of steel and brought down even the mightiest of magicians.
"Gorsgan!"
With a satisfying crash, the windows and the glass doors shattered into the tiniest of fragments.
Some of the gladiators within jumped, as though surprised. That's bad. They might not be as tough as I thought after all.
The rage incarnate snarled at me.
"I heard you, Rage Incarnate," I say with a smile. "Unwilling to display your full strength in the lounge?"
"We do not tolerate violence here," Luke snapped at me. I had heard of him too; perhaps someday he and others could work together to free me from my chain of victories. But not today. Today I am here for Gorsgan alone.
"Gorsgan," I smiled. "I challenge you. We fight in three days at the arena. Do not disappoint me."
"Hey, you can't just leave like..." began Luke.
"I can." I reply. With a bound that turns the ground beneath me into a small crater, I leap far, far away back into the deserts I had came from. I had made more enemies today; hopefully, they will be smart and unite against me to defeat me. And then, I shall know true release.
