JerryTT, I noticed you made this thread after I beat you with my alt Cadmus (right?).
Well, it doesn't really matter. If you lose to someone, and you truly are your rating, you will gain it back.
No, it wasnt your alt that pissed me off (i didnt even know it was an alt), it was KFCJs alt, and he was at 1800. I Instantly lost 30 rating. played him again. another 25. And the entire thing about the top 100 was on my mind for awhile now.
Don't worry jerrytt, it's sort of like natural selection.
If a high-ranked player faces against a new beginner and he raged-quit, then most likely the beginner is just a mean jerk on the internet.
A smart and mature new beginner would steal the high-ranked player's tactics to use against other beginners. ;)
I know, using alts aren't morally right. People tend to lose BIG scores (as you mentioned) against alts. But I like them. I never had an alt account, but I always like to steal their tactics from them. I'm from the 1600's ranked, and sometimes when an alt beats me (And I know it's an alt, like a 1400's person), it's like a free ticket to play with a person with 2000+ rating. I could be able to use his ideas and then stomp other people within my rating score.
But it's not like losing a big score is the end of your life. The more professional you are, your rating will naturally go up. Thus, you shouldn't feel so bad against losing an alt, because you know you can be able to recover it.
At the rating I was, I could have easily been matched with someone in the top 100+ But I was matched with someone in the top 20 and 100 rating below me. While you are right about being able to recover it, I still should have never
had to recover it. If he had been playing with his main account instead of trying to boost his second account to another spot in the top 100, I would have only lost 7-10 rating.
