Quote from The PirateRight, and where did you research this exactly?
I sincerely doubt you can trust the information you get out of documentaries. For all you know they could've been made by the government, and of course they're going to want to show their military in a positive and appealing light. Even if the government had no connection to the documentaries the information still isn't going to be that reliable. Don't you figure a film maker is going to put more focus on showing interesting footage, not going into all the harsh details about what the military is really about.
And finally, even if your research was 100% factual and reliable, the very fact that you're basing your decision on how much stuff you get to shoot at and blow up shows that you don't have even close to a mature enough mindset to be making a reasonable decision here.
Trust me, I've put the time and effort into learning all about the SEALs. I've talked to many of them on forums, and have gotten reliable information. I have wanted to become a SEAL for about 2 years now. I know how saying I want to join because I want to shoot things and blow stuff up makes me sound like a little kid who just saw Rambo and now wants to join the military. There's other reasons too, but the main thing is I just want to carry a gun and kill bad guys. You're saying I'm not mature because that's why I want to join, then why should I join? Believe it or not, that's why a lot of people join the military. I have talked to some Marines in person, ones that got back from Iraq and that was their reason for joining, does that make them immature? What's wrong with that? They're the good guys so it's not a bad thing anyways. The SEALs are the best trained soldiers in the world, they are trained how to blow stuff up and fire a bunch of different weapons and they love it. So please tell me, what would be a "mature" reason to join the SEALs?
