I've never used beams before, and I guess I might start. I know the black guys arms are a bit choppy, and the leg stiffness is a problem. But I really trying to focus on the beam.

to make a beam do u just creat a figure and make a long straight line?

That's what I did. I made a long horizontal line. Put in the figure twice, with one bigger. The smaller one should have a lighter shader on whichever color you are using. On the bigger, make it dark. Then just move it around like I did, getting bigger each frame, and darkening the background to the matching color. Simple, but looks pretty good. =D
