I think u should get started on the game now as it has been ages since this thread started and it looks like we are all dry on ideas.

So what's your point? Who cares if isn't ever finished; it was fun making animations and thinking up ideas for the thread, and that's good enough for me. You just want to play the game, and don't contribute to the thread at all, so get out.

Hehe, it's gonna be a while.
When your passion is to make games, you learn to be patient. These things take way too much time. ;)
But sometimes it goes fast. Who knows, maybe I'll do it soon, or maybe I'll do something else soon. I have so many games I want to make, it's hard to know which I'll get around to first.
However, this is the only one where people are actively complaining to me about getting it done. So we'll see. :)

Are you even working on it?

So...
I've realized that it's about time to seriously start on this thing. This brainstorming thread has run stale, and I can tell that you all have been getting restless with the lack of new progress.
I've thought of a basic design that should allow you to build the sort of contraptions you've depicted in your concept animations. I will make a prototype of this simplified building system in Flash where you will be able to construct these contraptions yourself. Then I will add the ragdoll and damage system. Once that is done we will know better how to continue and expand on it towards a full game.
I will try talking with Exilement about these ideas, and I will make a new thread here specifically for sharing with you all the official screens and demos and information of the actual development. I can start by explaining my design for the first prototype, maybe with illustrations and animations. Then I will upload the first interactive prototype of the building system and let you all try it out and comment on it. It will continue like that as more prototypes are made, evolving toward a finished game.
Exilement, expect to see me on MSN. The rest of you - let me know what you think, and with luck you will soon have something real to sink your teeth into.
Thank you.

So I'm like totally on the list of prototype testers, right?
If you want some feedback on your progress just PM it to me k?

I really want to test too, but since I have no experience with AS and know probably nothing of game making, I don't know if I qualify.

Jawz and Lone Wolf, you are definitely on the list for prototype testing. Not that I've bothered to make a list, but if I did you'd be on it. :)
I'm actually planning to release the prototypes publicly for everyone to test. But there might be some exclusive demos that will be available to only a trusted few, like when the game is close enough to being finished that there's a risk of people stealing it.
Hey everyone, I've made a new thread where we will be posting all the official concept art, screen shots, and yes, game prototypes for you to check out. It's the Dejeweled Development Thread, or DDT for short. :p I've already posted an all-new color concept drawing there, so take a look!
Let's keep the general discussion here in this thread, but if you have a specific comment to make about the official concept art I've posted, you may post your reply in the DDT.

Axcho, may I ask to be on the prototype testing list, if you ever made it?
Jan 4, 2008 5:48 AM #75861
Yes, SoulEater, I'm pretty sure you'd be on the list.
