So, an update:
I just stayed up very late last night trying to finish my upgrade game in time for the contest at JIG. Unfortunately I did not finish in time.
But in a sudden twist of fate, the deadline was extended by two weeks because of a lack of quality entries! So I'll continue to work on the upgrade game until it is finished.
This means that I will not be starting the Dejeweled Engine Prototype until later. On the last week or so of March, when I have a break from school, I plan to use the time to work on the Dejeweled prototype. If I can start on it before that week, great, but I can't promise anything until then.

Okay, I watched the animation, and it's pretty good in terms of animating quality, but I'm not sure what's going on there. I see a block pushing a ragdoll up and then dropping away. I don't see what sort of mechanisms are causing that action (a counterweight, a motor, a rocket?), or what the effect is (ragdoll crushing, switch flipping?). So at the moment I'm not getting much from it. Do you want to explain a bit more of what you were going for?
