well, if you start looking at other anatomy things like muscle structure and stuff like that beforehand, they'll be less likely to question it

Okay so I took a look at the drawing you made, and decided to properly show you how to go about fixing it by drawing it up. One of the main problems with your drawing is obviously proportion. Your head is simply gigantic for the body, it should take 5 full heads to reach the knees on a female. On yours it takes only 4. The belly button should fall on about the 3rd head, on yours it falls at about 2 1/3rd heads. Your nipples fall at about 1 1/2 instead of 1 2/3rds. Problems like this can break an otherwise good drawing, and most of the time nobody will have any idea what the problem is. I didnt fully understand the problem with its proportions until I did the measurements myself.

Another issue I see is the lack of gesture in your drawing, the whole figure follows a straight line. The truth is that a relaxed figure will not stand straight like a soldier, they will have a curve to their entire figure. You need to learn to start out every drawing by first drawing the curvature of the spine. Once you have that center line, going from the neck all the way to the pelvis, you can draw everything around it so that the figure has life to it. Also, try to give the shoulders and the hips opposite tilts when you can, it helps to give balance to the drawing because all of the weight is evenly distributed.

You also went pretty far off with the lighting. Light from the sun DOES have a specific angle, and you need to remember that. All of the light should come from the same spot in the sky, not seemingly from all around her. If you put shading on one side of her body, dont put it on the other, unless the light is really small. The sun is massive, so it will be able to light all but the furthest angles of the body, and you should show that.

Finally, you always have to think about the silhouette of your figure...that is, how that drawing looks if the figure was all black. A good drawing has a very clear and easy to read silhouette, and the viewer should know exactly what the person is doing based on only the silhouette.

Here is a mostly naked version of your character but with the fixes I mentioned. It would be fully naked, but I have child siblings. :P Notice the gesture of the figure, as well as the proportions (I included the heads and proportion chart to the right of the drawing, as well as the gesture to the left, and the silhouette right beside it)

ps. the lighting is from in front of her above and to the right
