show us ur hardware :o

seriously, PC thread. show us what you're using/building, laptops count also. macs are welcome i guess.

currently using a shitty dell inspiron 1750, the HDD is failing, so i've been stuck in safemode for a good two months now, been too lazy to fix it with a new build in progress.

Build Specs:
CPU: i5 4670k 3.4GHz (going to be using a custom cooler, because fuck stock)
MOBO: ASRock z87 Extreme4
RAM: 16gb DDR3 1600mhz
HDD: WD Caviar Black 500gb 64mb cache, 7200RPM, SATA 6gb/s
GPU: GeForce GTX 770 2gb
PSU: XFX 650W
Monitor: Acer H236HLbid (23" HDMI) got this little shit right before it went out of stock, lucky me.
[h=2][/h][h=2][/h]pretty basic set-up.

WIP

Image

Obtained the MOBO, not going to slide it into the case until I get my PSU, RAM, CPU, and HDD.

Image

Pretty basic mid-ATX case. Nice cable management, and plenty of room for me to work with. To top it off, simplistic design works for good airflow.

Image

New tools that came in the mail today along with some fans I ordered, pretty basic little kit.

Image

Three 140mm fans for exhaust placed into the top of the case.

Image

Two 120mm fans placed into the front of the case to draw in air, and one on the side of the case to draw in air.

Will keep this shit updated if anyone cares.

YOUR TURN.

What the fuck do you do where you would need 16GB RAM? You have to do some pretty intense shit to have all of those fans in there as well. Also, why not try to get an i7 processor?

I actually don't do a thing where I would need 16gb of RAM, I just want it in there. However, if push comes to shove, and I need to tone down on the spending, I'll just settle for 8gb. Also, not too much. The only fan I'm worried about would be the one mounted onto the case side, might get in the way of the CPU cooler or GPU. As for the i7, there's a big debate whether it'd actually be worth it, prime example would be: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1731540/4770k-4670k-gaming.html but I've just decided to settle for the i5.

Yeah I feel like an i7 would benefit me more, and I could afford it. I'm one of those "rich kids" who likes to have the best stuff. I should put some more RAM in my PC. Not sure why but I've been running up my data usage a lot lately. Fuck WoW.

Yeah I have 8gb. I was thinking twelve might be sufficient. I have a few chips from my old computer but they're back in FarmVegas in a box :/ I doubt they would even be compatible with the motherboard I have now.

before it died earlier this week, my desktop was:

- Core i7 2700k @ 5Ghz
- nVidia GeForce GTX 690 4GB GDDR5
- 16 GB DDR3 RAM
- Hitachi 2TB, SATA 6Gb/s
- Diablotek PSU - 750W

It died because I kept putting off cleaning it until it was too late. Dust and cat hair blocked the vents for the PSU, and caused the CPU fan to jam over night, and in the morning both were damaged from the heat. At least, that's as far as I can tell. I haven't had time to tinker with it.

Let this be a lesson to everyone: clean your shit.

i'm getting $2000 (AU) to buy a new computer for my birthday, which should be enough to buy a beastly computer. i intend to pick out good quality parts, but i don't really know what to buy, so if anybody has any suggestions i'd like to hear them. may as well start doing my research now.

as far as peripherals go, i already have a great keyboard, mouse and speakers, but i need to be able to afford a good screen to go with it.

I feel so terrible. My 2003 laptop has half a gig of RAM. Just 512 megabytes(MB).

Holy crap guys. You have such beast as computers.

If i ever get to build a computer I would get it a GeForce GTX Titan (I heard that shi is a beast), dual quadra core, at least 10gb of ram and huge ass screen. I would be happy with those.

Now I'll wait till Cronos tell us all about his girlfri-- computer here.

I'm pretty close to that - quad core i7-2600 3.4 ghz, GTX670, 8 gigs of ram and a 32" widescreen as a monitor.
