So I got this new tablet (PenPower Tooya X) a few days ago. It came bundled with a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 (pretty good) so I thought, why not?
Behold! My first ever drawing of a Sangheili from one of my favourite game series, Halo!

For those of you whining about how the head shouldn't look like that...

For those of you bitching about how he's got no muscles, I still don't know how to draw muscles. Gimme time to practice!
I know this is not the best drawing, but hey, I've never done this before. I usually draw using pencil and paper (I got a ton. Will be uploading soon if I got the time).
So, CnC please.

It's kinda fat on the legs >.> You need to learn more about the shading, I believe that animal is not smooth LOL (I never play that game) So, you need to make it kinda scratchy, or don't make it like a girl's skin.. And it's little bit messy on the outline. It will be better if you make a better shadow (not just a radial shading) + make it more detail, so it will be more awesome..

But overall... that's good but not too good..

Again, this is my first ever tablet drawing. It's in many ways very different from regular pencil-and-paper (for example: layers, shading), which is why I need advice on how I can improve. In fact, this is the first time I've ever tried this art style. Maybe instead of bitching about how I worded my post, maybe you can actually point out what is wrong with my drawing and give your opinions, like how theexceld9 has done.
Also, thanks theexceld9. I usually pay little attention to light sources, so I mostly focus my shading on the lower curves of whatever I'm drawing. So yeah, I do have to practice on that. The shadow is laziness on my part. I usually focus on the main body so I pay less attention to the little details. As for the outline, are you suggesting I use straighter lines for the outlines to make him look masculine? It did come across my mind, but I decided to take it one step at a time. I'll keep that in mind the next time I draw a masculine character. Thank's for the opinions!

No problem, sir Haro.. Anyway, what's the benefit in using tablet (except for animating full body LOL)

Anyway, I think this can help you
Muscles (Click to Show)

And from that picture (that's the basic) you can start making it bigger like this (improvising)

That didn't help at all... You DO know that this reflects nothing on how to draw them, right?
I'll go do some revision on my own.

I really like how you did this Sangheili. I have always been a fan of Halo, and I think this is actually a good drawing of an Elite from the games. I am guessing he just doesn't have any armor on, otherwise it isn't so great. Without the armor= great. If you do one of it with armor= even better.

Okay, lemme see if I can CnC this.

For a first timer with a tablet of any kind (I'm assuming) you did pretty decent. Decent, clean shading on the areas that required it (though there are some areas that need more shading IE: the chest and ribcage area).

It seems as if the leg to the right (or left from 'its' perspective) is a little bit longer than the other. It seems as if it is in an uncomfortable position where it's leaning on one leg rather than balancing its weight. Now the other leg, or the left one, isn't positioned right. The way you drew the kneecap is a bit funky seeing as it looks as if he has two shins, which even with an alien species like this, is a no-no. I can't properly help you with how to position it because I myself am still trying to get the hang of HUMAN anatomy down... Also the feet. It seems as if they are two different sizes, and this might be because the perspective of the legs is a bit skewed.

Arms: The only thing that really pops out at me is his left arm. I know you've said that you are not the best at muscular anatomy, but it just doesn't look right. The tricep shouldn't protrude from his arm that much, and it should really look more as if it is in a smooth bump with where it connects to the shoulder. You might also try hiding the arm behind his left side a little bit more to get a better position.

What I want to see you do is try a fullbody image and work on muscles, kind of like the one Xceld showed. You are right in how it doesn't really help you know how the muscles contract/relax, but the general idea was good. Look up various tutorials on how to draw muscles and the such, and try it for yourself. Like I said, maybe use the diagram Xceld had so graciously found for you just to get an idea of where the different muscle groups are.

So good luck! Hope I helped any
