Anyway 270, the fact that you stated that people should gather the concepts of 2-D animation before travelling and animating different perspectives is biased. It's not up to you whether the animator decides to take a specific route as it all leads up to personal preference. If an animator decides to mess around with several perspectives and/or points of view before being capable of animating 2-D scenes successfully, let him/her do it. I really don't spot the issue in what you're talking about since everyone can pick what sort of route they'd wish to take when learning more and more about the concepts of animation.
Just dropping my 2 cents. :)

I do notice that 270 is basing his talk on an opinion, since he does say it on his first post. But here is the thing : What makes you think that beginning animators would start off with angles? Just because many of us are getting into angles doesn't mean that it's gonna influence others to get to angles right off the bat.

Animators should learn how to animate from more than one perspective, assuming they actually want to improve as an artist.

Exilement we come from a time when stick animators animated to better their skills and only animated sticks as an introduction to proper animation. These people have either already grown up into animation or realized it wasn't for them and moved on to something else. These days, that is no longer the case. Stick animation is now more of a game to see who can trick the most people into thinking you're talented. Like a competition for egotists. The idea that something "advanced" like angles is actually part of basic animation is lost on them.

This guy is speaking the thruth. This community needs something to get them back to what's supposed to be happening but, that sounds far-fetched and I have no freaking idea how that would happen. The Dojo will probably help, being a combination of people from different places and styles and all (hopefully).
