You need someone who can convert it to Flash 8, I know a few members here with multiple versions of Flash.

Pardon my horrible memory, but I'll see what I can recall.

1. Open the file using the later version of the program.
2. Have that program save it to a version as low as it can (i.e. From Flash CS5 => Flash CS4 or CS3)
3. If you're lucky, that new version is openable by the lower version, if it is still not yet Flash 8 then use the version that can save it as such (I think it's CS3 or CS4, I don't remember)

That's the thing, he has to continuously save the file as a lower version until you reach Flash 8.

Let me explain it a little bit better.

It is impossible to open a file created on CS(something) on macromedia flash 8, if you have a CS5 file, you need someone with flash CS4 and flash CS3.

Then open flash CS5, and convert it down to CS4, then the person who has CS4 will convert it down to CS3, and finally the guy who has CS3 will convert it down to flash 8, and only THEN you can open the file.

That's the only solution. Also you CAN open a flash 8 file on any other version, you just can't do it backwards.
