Okay, so I wasn't able to finish this but I wanted to at least be true to my word and post this up.
There's a big gap in the story simply because I got confused with where I was supposed to start writing this and decided later that I would just try both (didn't really work out as you can see).

Anyways, here's my piece. (I'm going to go hide in a hole now)

Upon the sands of an unknown land, a cloud of dust rises high in the air like a snake. A small caravan flies across an open field as static blares loudly across the radio of the leading Humvee. “Convoy Delta, this is Base. Please respond, over.”

The driver picked up the radio and pressed a button, “This is Convoy Delta. Permission to enter Base, over?”

“Granted, welcome Delta team.” The voice replied as static quickly grew to fill in the silence. The driver hung up the radio and adjusted his rear view mirror to the four soldiers dressed in their jet-black outfits.

The short one sat unusually still as if he were glued to his seat despite the bumps in the road, that jostled the Humvee from side to side. The tall one slouched across the ceiling, keeping his helmet from hitting the roof due to his unnatural height.

The average looking ones sat slumped in their seats much too casually as one spun his pistol around his finger while the other typed away at his computer, absorbed by the content coming from his screen.

The driver’s brow creased into a frown at their appearance as he removed the cigarette from his lips and let out a puff of white smoke. “Let’s get one thing straight. You’re here on assignment to guard the ‘Key to the Surface’ and nothing else. That’s what this facility is here for and that’s why you’re here.”

The one at the computer closes his computer and glances up at the man with a small grin spreading beneath his mask. Raising a hand to the top of his head, he waves his fingers with a small salute. “Yes sir!”

The driver eyed at the man carefully up and down, but he couldn’t tell what the man was thinking. These “special forces” were quite different than the ones he had envisioned, but arguing with the chain of command was out of the question.

He returned his gaze to the road and slowed down as they approached the complex that already seemed to be on high alert. Guards ran back and forth upon the walls and an alarm blared loudly as floodlights cloaked the vehicle. The Humvee stopped as two guards approached them with rifles and a strange device holstered at their side. Almost in unison they lowered their guns and pulled out the strange device. “Present your tags.”

The man with the computer reached under his armor, pulled his tags from his neck, and handed them to the guard. “Here you are sir, Special Ops Ericson reporting for duty.”

Unfazed by Ericson’s comment, the guard clicks the device over the tags as a small beep resounds from it and the guard moves onto the next window.

“Tough crowd,” Ericson grinned as he stuffed his tags into one of his pockets.

After all had been scanned, the soldiers wave their hands towards one of the floodlights. The gates before them slowly opened up as the Humvee coasted past the metal linked fence and towards the tall building that stood in the middle.

“So where exactly is this key?” Inquired the tall one as he tilted his head from being brushed against the ceiling. “And why is it so important for us to be called to guard it?”

“That’s on a need-to-know-basis,” The driver glared at the man through the rearview mirror as he came to a halt in front of the building.

The tall one shrugged and unbuckled his seat belt as he followed the rest of his group out of the vehicle to salute a large man whose hair was spotted with gray streaks across his head. He stood rigidly at attention waiting for them in an outfit that was decorated with several medals all across his chest as he raised a hand to salute them. “Welcome to the Gateway Delta team. It’s an honor to have you here with us. Follow me.”

The team filed behind the decorated commander as they entered the building




The engine of Haku’s ATV roared as she sped through the forest, weaving through the trees. “The plan was supposed to be perfect. Things weren’t supposed to happen this way. How could they have let something like this happen?” She had to quickly get to the rally point before it was too late.

Her eyes darted left and right searching for the small building somewhere off the path. A flash of white catches her eye as she quickly dismounts the vehicle and dashes towards the building. “Damn it, you better still be alive!” She muttered to herself as she burst through the door praying that it was all just a lie, but she would be sorely disappointed.

Light flooded the darkened halls displaying its dusty interior and pair of muddy footprints leading further into the shadow of a room before her. Rushing into the room, a figure in the darkness swiftly draws its gun as Haku aims hers with deadly precision. The light floods the room, revealing the figure’s identity and the dead body of the Hermit lying on the ground before it. “L-Lucas?”

“Haku?” Lucas replied with an equally surprised voice. “Is that you?”

The events in Haku’s mind began to fall together all at once as everything suddenly became clear. “It was you wasn’t it? You’re the traitor! You’re the one who sabotaged the plan!”

“Whoa! Hey, lets just calm down okay? Take it easy.” Lucas cooed as he tried to maintain his usually calm exterior.

Haku glared menacingly at Lucas as she cocked back the hammer of her pistol. “I should kill you right now for what you’ve done you selfish bastard. We were so close to being free! And because of you-!”

A small air of dread slowly tightened its icy grip around Haku’s throat as an air of clicks filled the room and a small prodding of a barrel at her back. “Don’t do anything stupid, airhead.”

“Warrior, what are you doing?” Haku growled refusing to turn her gaze away from Lucas.

“I should be asking you the same question.” The Warrior replied, pressing his gun harder into Haku’s back.

“Be cool, guys.” Lucas chimed with a grin hidden in the shadow that spread widely across his face. “We can figure this out.”

The contents in Haku’s stomach began to churn violently as she clenched hier pistol tightly, but the pistol at her back reminded her of the situation. Haku slowly backed to a corner of a room, still pointing her pistol at Lucas.

“Lets here some explaining then. What happened after the initial explosion?” Haku growled in a low voice.

Lucas calmly let the words slip off his tongue, “After the explosion had attracted the guards, I immediately sought out the Control Tower to await further orders. Thankfully, I was still undetected amidst the confusion.”

“We were undetected as well,” replied Dominic as his gaze fell upon Lucas. Their eyes locked intensely for a moment.

“That’s true…” A frown falls upon Lucas’ face as he directs his pistol at Dominic. “…up until you were the first to blow our cover.”

Dominic draws his gun as well, “W-whoa! Hey, t-that wasn’t my fault! I d-did everything you told me too!” Dominic sputtered pointing his gun at Lucas, as the clip rattled loudly like a snake. He eyes the Warrior and points his gun towards him. “I-if anything, this guy is the most suspicious! You disappeared halfway through the operation!”

Unfazed by the gun being pointed directly at his face, the Warrior shifts an eye at Dominic. “You’ve better be sure about you’re doing.”
