Exactly. All you so called Christians should go and read the bible and come back when you read the part about loving your neighbors as yourself. If you hate Muslims then you hate yourselves. Now gtfo b4 I kill this pie in my hands

Not really. It is more of commemoration of some event the Quran has related.
You can learn about it in the Internet, I believe.
Whatever it is, same message to the Muslims in there!

You in a predominantly white church or something?
Don't let it get you down because no matter what race you are you have just as much right to God's love as any other person.
Don't worry about the eyes around you that look down you, focus on the eyes above you that look optimistically. Those eyes have more love for you than anyone else could have.

Please stick to the Special Holiday thereof and stay away from the religous debate. Any more and I'll be forced to lock this thing.

you guys are playing with fire by discussing something like this in a forum full of middle class american teenagers who think it's edgy to derail a discussion about something they don't care about or understand.
if you think they're breaking one of these rules...
...then shut up, report their post and let a moderator deal with it.
if they're not breaking any rules, they have every right to post here and you guys are actively breaking this rule by complaining about it:
seriously, this isn't difficult, guys. quit bitching about what they're doing and follow procedure, you don't get to personally decide who is and isn't allowed to post here and which opinions are acceptable. that's why we have rules and moderators.
eid mubarak.
edit: god damn it hewitt.

My other Muslim brothers will correct me or add anything in if I missed out.
It all really goes back to the time of Ibrahim or Abraham (peace be upon him) with his son Ismael/Ishmael (peace be upon him as well). God decided to test Abraham by ordering that he kill his son. Ibrahim had complied, and Ismael also had complied. In the moments before Ismael's death, the boy was replaced by a goat/sheep, which was slaughtered. Ultimately this had been a test of Ibrahim's faith and devotion to God, who is the Most Gracious, Merciful, and Kind, had spared Ismael.
So now it is a requirement for not only the pilgrims who have finished Hajj (this is why it takes place today), but for all Muslims. Slaughter a sheep (there's a proper way of doing so), and I think most of it goes to charity, and the rest may go to neighbors or other people of the sort.
The celebration is exalted, and we wake early to pray (Salat al-Eid) at the mosque. It is quite the celebratory time of year. We all go out shopping for presents for our kids and family, making all the stores bustle with people in and out. Etc. etc.
That's about what I know. I wouldn't compare it to Christmas as there's more religious value and it's not as focused on presents.

I second this.
You people can't pass by anything religious, be it an event or celebration, without transforming it into a huge debate/argument.

Stone Muslims have two celebrations, Eid Al Fitr, which is after Ramadan. This is the one more similar to Christmas, with the family meetings and gifts etc. It's also when Muslims break there fast during Ramadan.
Now this one, Eid Al Adha, is after Hajj.
It's closer to thanksgiving than it is to Christmas. People usually donate money or sacrifice livestock which is then distributed to the poor.
