Personally, my favorite anime shows are FLCL, Samurai Champloo, and Soul Eater.

I mostly read manga over watching anime. From what I've read, Sword Art Online is beyond awful. From what I've heard though, the anime is supposed to be many times better so I'll have to try it out.
From what I've seen though, I enjoyed Eureka Seven and Eyeshield 21 wasn't too bad (relatively speaking compared to the manga). Another was a great "horror" series and One Piece is also really good, but I haven't had much exposure outside of that. I was going to say Miyazaki films, but I assume that we're only talking about anime series. So I'll shy off.

It bothers me that someone voted for Fairy Tail but nobody did for Death Note.

Streaming an anime takes way more effort than going on a scanlation site unless you're talking about watching it on TV. In which case it would take even more effort to watch it. I don't really get your point here.
