Pick any digimon you like (from any generation? do digimon have generations?) and put it up against Mewtwo. Dead.

Ignoring, of course, the fact that digimon seem to spawn new evolutions any time they appear to be losing.

Haha.
Funny.

Most Mega Level digimon would destroy Mewtwo.

Cherubimon, Apollomon, Zanbamon, Wargreymon, Seraphimon, etc. They're all badass.

Mewtwo isn't even technically a legendary pokemon because everything special about it came from a lab. It's a science experiment that's an excuse for what you're considering the pokemon that can beat any digimon. While Mewtwo has impeccable pyschic powers and mind control, a digimon like Cherubimon can manipulate reality itself.

Pwned.

Mewtwo sees the future and decides to kill your digimon while he's still in his pathetic-baby form which all digimon seem to wonder around in.

LOL How much do you even know about Digimon? They don't at all only wander around in rookie or your so called baby form.
Look, I think pokemon is cool but Digimon has a better storyline and digimon in comparison to pokemon are much stronger.
Go and watch a full digimon season, the reason the main protagonistic Digimon dwell in rookie form is because their digivolutions are not natural, the tamers digivices and crests influence their digivolutions during battle that's why they don't stay digivolved when there is no threat or danger.

Oh and Cherubimon travels back in time to stop the time experiment that created Mewtwo.

Pwned.

Basically nothing. I was only just young enough for Pokémon. I know that there was a cartoon, and that most of the monsters seemed to be tiny 90% of the time before sprouting new abilities as the situation required. I can't remember any specific names, but I think they all ended with "-mon".

I'm fairly sure there's a later-generation pokémon which manipulates time too, so it's silly to compare those kinds. They just mutually exclude each other. Besides, creatures of unlimited power don't make things interesting. It's just laziness filling in for creativity and it invites dozens of plot holes.

(Edit: Dialga created time, so if we're bringing ridiculously powerful and philosophically questionable ubercreatures into the fray you don't ever get to have existed.)

Weren't digimon supposed to be relatively intelligent, rather than just animals like pokémon were? Because if so, why the fuck were there still humans in that world? Pokémon explored what happens when you create something powerful and intelligent, and the answer is that it takes over the world and wipes out mankind unless you've got someone on hand to teach it how to love.

Also, look at this:

Those aren't monsters. They're robots. And they are therefore inadmissible, along with whatever other aesthetically similar digi"mon" are being quoted here.

That's why I only watched so much of Digimon. I say leave the endless stream of 60ft tall mechs until they're 100% needed for the Power Rangers.

What?....lol, since when people think they are robots? Actually, your the first one I heard from ^_^ well, it seems like for YOU they are looking like robots, but they arent....just like humans can be knights, soldiers, whatsoever.... these "Monsters" are "holy warrior digimons" (so the Digipedia named them so ^_^) And also, since when can mewtwo look in the future?

robot: a mechanical or virtual agent, usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by a computer program or electronic circuitry

since they're literally called digital monsters, every digimon fits the definition of a robot. or a bot, at least. therefore your argument is invalid.

Since generation 2, when he learns Future Sight at level 44, and at progressively earlier levels over subsequent generations.

This was actually explained and deconstructed in you guessed it Tamers. It explored the consequences and implications of kids being able to use and "tame" monsters both in the real world and the digital one. To answer your question, humans are bastards and were never meant to come to the digital world in the first place. Digimon are rabid, feral, creatures who desire nothing more than to battle. The concept of friendship is so foreign to them it took almost half the saga for them to understand and even when they did, the damage was already so great. The initial main villain of the show turned out to be a digimon who was "abandoned" and "abused" by a pair of tots who in our view were just playful attempts at owning a mon. There was also that one character that insisted their bond was destiny when she was in fact just abused by her parents and needed a bolster to cry on. When her mon died for real, she went utterly insane and became a vehicle of madness for the actual main villain which led to the nigh destruction of everything else. Bottom line: digimon are dangerous and humans should never have to "use" them in the first place, much less children; something Pokemon (the show) never fully explored.

Psshh all of you give time travel way too much credit.

Jirachi is where it's at. Wish-granting powers for A WEEK will utterly destroy anything in its path, pokemon or digimon.
