Yep. It's that time of the year again! Time to bring back the combo competition that you guys love!
--- It's time to get things kickin' up in here! ---

For those who are unfamiliar of how BSE works...

What is B.S.E.?

It's a very simple yet fun idea, you will be given a sequence of moves and a ”special element” that must be performed in a combo. The combo is being performed by ONE stickfigure against another stickfigure. The special element can be anything from superpowers and special weapons, to different environments and music synchronization.

An example:

Combo: Punch, Punch, Kick, Kick, Kick."
Or "Punch, Kick, Throw.

Special element: The combo must be performed inside a wind tunnel.

The combos will become more advanced the further on down the competition. The final round will always have the longest combo of them all.

How many rounds?

There will be 10 rounds, each one will last 2-4 weeks. No rounds will be shortened or lengthened, even if everyone finishes their animations early, or most people don’t finish on time.

Length?

There will be NO minimum length. However, obviously, length may act as a catalyst for getting more points, which will be distributed for actual animating skill.

Can I miss a round?

You are allowed to miss out rounds and you are allowed to join this competition at any round you want, although this will obviously affect your overall score.

I'm finished!

At the end of the 10 rounds a winner will be chosen from the highest overall score, and an award will be given to the highest scorer of every round. The top mark for each round will be 10, your end score will obviously then be out of 100.

Let's get into the action!

----------------------------

Combo for this round!

Punch, kick, jab, high kick, punch, uppercut, jab, grab, throw, counter-punch, kick, jab, punch, kick, bone breaker, bodyslam.

Special Element: The combo must be performed on a HOT surface.

Counter attacks?: As you can see I colored the combo with red and blue, a counter-punch is the part of the combo when you "change victims" your stick will try to punch the enemy, and the "victim" will block/dodge it and then the inicial performer will become the victim till the combo finishes.

High kick: Basically, one of those kicks that features the leg high in the air, so it's like a vertical kick.

Jab: The same thing as a punch but way faster.

Sidenote:

AS LONG AS 1 OF THE STICKMEN REACTS TO THE HOT SURFACE, YOU CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT TO THE FLOOR

Q & A !!!

Quote from dabigE13
does the hot surface mean strictly a hot floor or a can it also mean a hot environment?

Of course! That's up to your creativity, if you want to be inside of a volcano performing the combo, that's completely fine.

Quote from vianbni
i want to ask before joining, can i use pivot instead of flash?

Sure, there are no limitations in how do you perform your combo, you may use any animation program that you want.

Quote from Fordz
Cami!
Can one of them still have a jetpack? :3

Sure! That's up to your creativity.

Quote from Kursura
Quick question, do both characters need to be affected? Is it possible for one to be immune?

Hmmm Is ok, but you must make the other stickman be affected by the hot surface.

Quote from eXtreme247
Does this element have to be applied through out the animation or can it happen later on..?

Yes, it has to be at the start of the combo that's the meaning of "performed on a hot surface."

Spoiler (Click to Show)
d is a really short summary for your anim. There was no special element here it was pretty much a glowing background, even like this you managed to perform a sweet combo, even when it was interrumpted for ridiculously long angles, you have a lot of potencial dude, if you put effort in your next rounds I'm pretty sure you'll win more than 1 round, you have the skills, now make a use of them

Atomicapple : These points are for your creativity at thinking in such an unique hot surface like this, the concept was pretty well thought and I don't know why didn't you finish it. Lack of inspiration?, go and search some music that pumps you up, it always works, can't say much for the rest of your animation, please finish your entry next time.

DemonicDemon : I noticed how you tried to sync the music with the animation... but maannnn it took so long!!, when you're making a music sync, make sure it's entertaining to watch, don't move just the V-Cam but also the sticks, you could've added some text too or some kind of flares I don't know, the angles were rpetty good but since the intro was pretty "empty" it felt like it took longer than the actual animation, careful with these things for your next round, other than that, keep it up!

FL-Nordin - : Even tho you said that 2-D animations are your weakness, this was pretty well done, you managed to pick up your weaknesses and do your best to make a use of them, the FX used were pretty good, that monster scream was awesome, and the music sync was perfect. I noticed that you were strugling trying to draw the monster in some parts, don't be afraid to double-frame man, some parts DO need double/triple frame to make it look smoother, also in the first part of the combo the blue stick was lacking of force in some hits, probably because he was fighting a huge damn monster, but in some parts were he had the anticipation and impulse needed, the force animated wasn't enough to make it look right. Next time buddy, don't limit yourself with the backgrounds, make sure to enjoy it!, think in some comfortable BG to animate and do it, you had so many posibilities here and you chose the hardest one to animate, however, it was a really entertaining animation.

vianbni :I liked the volcano rocks falling from the sky idea, I sadly didn't see the "hot surface" represented here, your movements are lacking of some frames and smoothness, but you sure have the potencial to do it way better, do your very best in the next round, I'm pretty sure you can pull something very sweet up!.

Foscex : Maybe an aplause?, this was so damn entertaining dude, the colors, the BG concept, force, physics, and combo were perfect, I like the amount of rainbows, just don't overuse them. The music was awesome too, if you manage to add other kind of FX in your anims you'll always get a 10/10, some shadows and V-Cam tricks will fit perfectly for your animation style, and don't be afraid to add faces to all your stickmen, it gives a nice realistic touch. I'm so watching all your animations you improved a crapton from your last animation. I could notice that your combos are sweet, but your angles... are way more attractive, you could try to practice more kind of angles, such as approaching objects and viceversa, if you manage to improve your angles, your animations will be jaw-dropping awesome.

drackojiano : I wish this was longer!!!!. I know that you say that you are based on the Zetas style to make your anims but somehow I think your style is unique!, and I dare to say that is way more entertaining to watch your style than some nazhul's anims, your 2D and force in every hit was amazing, but man try to slow down things a little, for a competition like BSE I would like to see every hit, I had to watch it frame by frame to check if your anim had all the hits listed, work in some angles! your comic style drawing will fit perfectly to make your anims longer, add some force (yeah even more) in some finisher combos and make a more entertaining animation. And please make them longer next time, also you could try to add some FX!, I would love to see what you can do with them, even if you're not used to make FX who knows... maybe you're pretty good at them. I hope to see you next round!.

lilg742ster : This was totally unexpected, the combo and FX were pretty good-looking, but pleaseeeee get a sweet soundpack man!, there are a lot of them in the resources section of this forum and they'll sound pretty cool in your animations, also make a better background!, it would've been so nice to see a well done background. Also, work more on angles, they are pretty sweet and they could be a nice factor in your style.

Surraku : I didn't understand what the background was, watch some combo tutorials buddy!, you need to learn to double-frame and make use of the anticipation in some hits, one does not simply throws a punch, you gotta move your shoulder back, hold a nice position and release the combo, if you manage to animate that (and make sure that your feet are in the same position) your combos will improove greatly!. Keep going.

_SAVY_ : Long time I don't see an anim from you, and you've improved greatly!. The music sync took quite long, but I understand that you couldn't make it shorter since you wanted to use it's lyrics so, here is my advice, try to add some text, some v-cam movements and angles to make that "waiting for music sync" entertaining there are a lot of ways to fill time with angles and good looking text, maybe a better font? it didn't fit with the animation style you use, maybe some "torn'd-like" font for when the mosnter was talking and some red/blood-prints texture would've look soooo cool, try to take some time to think on this next time, especially if you're whiling to make a music sync for your intro. The combo lacked of smoothness, and you gotta practice on faces, if you look at foscex's faces the

The red part is performed by one stick and then the blue means the combo switches to another stickman. Notice how the color changes at the counter.

Well most likely the floor. Having it somewhere other than the major battle ground is rather pointless and avoids the sole concept. But if you can do it in the most creative way possible, maybe you can do it on the roof.

But in sole purpose, floor should be hot.

It might just be Camila's grammar, but I believe the theme is:

The combo must be performed on a HOT surface.

Otherwise it wouldn't make sense and the heat would just be in the background. So no, flashfree, they have to be touching the ground. The hot ground.

Oh and btw, I noticed the last thread started devolving into a dissing match with image macros flying everywhere. Please don't do that here and in future rounds. That is just spam in its purest form. That means you too, Yun.
