You get that problem when you want to blur your line, so you adjust the x-axis blur and zero the y-axis, and now, you rotate your line say 30 degrees, aaaaaaand instead of the blur also climbing to 30 degrees, it instead stays on the x-axis and screws up your entire effect/symbol/background/line.

How do I fix this?

I apologize if the question is too not understandable.

Any screenshots for better details?

I just had the same problem yesterday..! Maybe try doing manually a linear gradient rectangle with alpha 0 / 30 / 0 for the white-purple-white.

Make the blur on the line like regular, then convert the whole thing to a symbol and rotate the symbol.

EDIT:
try creating a graphic. or use the Soften edge tool for shapes or create a new symbol ontop of the original symbol

You can't make a blur like that. Its simply not in flash's capabilities.
:I

Blurs only work on the X and Y axis and nothing inbetween.
But what you can do is make a linear gradient and select the slot 2 gradient box which makes it
gradient both ways.Just make sure the end is at 0% alpha.

The closest you can get to that is tilting the v cam. Try that.

Well thanks for all these tips, I'll try them, but I'll likely just settle for just blurring both axes simultaneously XD

From I can experience, there really isn't a way to have a blur going in a specific direction. There are many ways to portray that effect. One of them is, of course, the gradient. There's also having different alphas of the object in an array.

You can't set a specific blur direction, hence flash being a vector-based program.
