No, it's easy to kite people into his mushrooms, especially if the fight is in the jungle. With a few well placed blinds and his ult he can do his share of the team fight without even really being in it. Teemo isn't much of a team fighter. He's good for cleaning up and split pushing imo.

Useless is a bit of a misnomer.
The reason a lot of people think he's bad late game is because his ultimate doesn't work like a lot of popular champs retarded *PRESS BUTTON FOR INSTANT GRATIFICATION* ultimate abilities. Teemo's shrooms are actually really useful for team fighting, especially with max penetration, it's up to you to place them well ahead of time and for your teammates to play around them. If he farmed well his Q will do MASSIVE damage too and the blind is the natural enemy of an ADC and most assassins in team fights. And end game his passive with a sweeping lens is extremely useful too, if you're good at positioning.

Teemo is a lot more technical than people will ever want to give him credit for.

Whenever his shrooms are off cooldown there's no reason to not just drop it nearby, never hover 3 stacks, because you're wasting shrooms.
Even if I'm in the middle of lane I'll just drop it a bit back, so I can roam and still get some CS and make it a bitch for people to push my lane. Come the end of lane phase if I spend a lot of time defending mid sometimes I'll find that I've got 4-5 shrooms running down our side of mid lane. Even if a lot of my team gets killed, when the enemy team goes to push mid their wave dies and usually they take a ton of damage, completely stopping their momentum.
Which is a pretty sizable team contribution actually.

Bullshit, I'd pay seeing you 'burst down ' 900ap teemo. Fuck the shrooms dude, 1 q + auto attack from a fed teemo fucks you up entirely. That little motherfucker is no joke

I'd say he is more useless early game and he's easier to shut down before he gets level 6. If you shut him down early he can't do anything late game.

Post six he quickly becomes very difficult to gank, I'm not surprised when I hit level six and never see their jungler in my lane again. Shroom mine fields not only let me see them coming, but slows them down and hurts them too.

And shutting him down early is totally matchup dependent, there's a lot of champs that teemo can poke down like crazy at the start of the game with little to no retaliation. I don't feel he's really weak at any point in the game in particular.

Everyone hates him for a reason.

Tell that to Yorick: his ghouls can completely wreck your mushrooms and for every tick of poison he gains twice the amount in lifesteal
Man, I wish Yorick was on weekly rotation

Actually in a previous post in this thread I mentioned difficulty dealing with Yorick as teemo.

I would be glad to tell him that it's a favorable match up for him.
Hens "matchup dependent."

Actually I would use matchup dependent to describe top lane as a whole.

Yeah if you get to land more than a couple auto attacks through the massive skill shot fuck fest flying your way.

Also you don't benefit at all from mana on items.

i suppose that's more the case for AP casters, i don't really play them so much. but if you've got even a second of cooldowns in between firing all your abilities, i'd say it's worth getting.

as for the mana, i don't think i've ever in my life bought sheen for its stats. it's all about the procs. AP is not exactly useful on an AD bruiser anyway.

All the sheen items have pretty good stats though. Sure sheen itself isn't AMAZING in terms of stats for 1200 gold, but 25 AP and 200 Mana is pretty decent.

Lich bane for 3000 gold gives you a lot of bang for your buck. 80 AP isn't anything to scoff at, 250 mana is usually 2 or 3 more abilities even at end game which can make a big difference and the 5% movement speed when adding in boots gives teemo something crazy like 480 movement speed. And that's not even counting the ludens echo.

And if you look at iceborn gauntlet, dare I say the proc is only the ICING on the cake?
