One thing, don't upgrade your Haunting Guise until its your last item to spend money on (or they're stacking health and no MR). I go Void Staff after DFG and Rabadoobas, but its also important to get defense so you can last in fights until its time to drop the ult. So Rylai's and Abysall Scepter (only if they have lots of AP) are good for that.

You're forgeting zhonyas devour, a katarina without zhonyas is like a leesin without wards.

For a maximum damage TF, go for items in this order. But dont be afraid to get better items for different situations:

Dorans Ring + two HP pots -> Blasting Rod OR Boots + Amplifying Tome -> Sheen OR Sorcerers Shoes -> Lich Bane -> Rabadons Deathcap -> Deathfire Grasp -> Void Staff -> Zhonyas Hourglass

what level did everyone start playing pvp? Should i just jump straight in or what?

The sooner you play PvP, the faster you'll get better. Bots are good for getting used to the game and new champs, but they play nothing like humans do and they develop bad habits.
But jump in once you're comfortable facing others. You'll be matched against mostly new guys too.

I usually play a custom match with my friend every time we want to get used to a new champion, speaking of I think I found my new soul mate in khazix 19/7/24.
So it's 1 human and 4 bots on each side.

I went straight to the PvP once I got lvl 5. You all should do the same, some people is more stpid than the bots.

I jumped straight to pvp.
