Micro manage them. Shinobi I and II are recommended for effectiveness. They are assist and spy troops, not army troops. When your army is engaged, seek out enemy merics and magikill first; cloak and then attack them. They have generally low health so they'll be killed quickly. Immediately retreat after kill and have them healed by meric. Once cloak regenerates, repeat. Here's the hierarchy of whom to attack first: Meric, Magikill, Shadowrath, giant, archer, spearton, swordwrath, miner.

|I would say this is a more accurate scale: Magikill, Meric, giant, raging swordwrath, shadowrath, archer, swordwrath, miner, spearton,

No, I think the order should be Magikill>Shadowrath>Meric>Giant>Spear>Archer>sword.

Assuming what you're using to attack them is a shadowrath+shinobi 2

Regarding your question on what troops could be used to support shadows: I have several combos for your shadowrath to consider. Bear in mind, however, that I am scarcely the most experienced or qualified member on the forums to advise you; everything I write about StickEmpires should be taken with a grain of salt.

Shadallbow Combo (Click to Show)

shadow-meric combo (Click to Show)

Maybe you could ask one of the many friendlier and more skilled players around here. I'm certainly not the sort of person who should be giving advice... Try ShadowGeneralChaos, he's a shadowrath master, and besides, I've typed too much for me to type any longer; my fingers are protesting and every three words I type, I get a typo. Also, as the last sentence shows, I'm getting incoherent; typing for too long does that to me.

huh, for me it would be: Magikill, meric, shadowrath, spear, Giant, archer, sword..dont really assassinat miners
But actually, I only use them against Magikill and Merics, for scouting and etc....
Supprting units would be Merics and Giants....I dont really know why most people use shadowrath+albows...I think albows are just sadly too slow.

But to be better, never use shadowrath as your main unit (except for fun matches ^_^) only use a few of them, for assassinating Magikills and merics, thats all ^_^ against chaos...dunno really, yet, they still cant insta-kill chaos mages, but they do immense dmg...still, they can be affected by marrowkais reaper :/

Honestly, miner assassinations used to be what I did when I was a noob (1600) but as I played you realise that ninja is really only for Mage and Magikill...you basically never kill anything else with it. Basically, ninja > MMM (mage/miner/meric).

Always research Shinobi II, do hit and runs. Easy.

Oh and, forget what Wyrmspawn said. Ninjalbow is the only composition you can do with shadows, but that's not viable in the current meta for Classic. Shadowrath-Meric is...yeah, don't even consider it.

Yep, DragonArcher is definitely right. I was referring to the best combos possible for a shadow fan. If your aim is to win rather than to use shadows in a (relatively) viable manner, ignore my last post.
