The artwork really isn't that bad! I can see that you tried to incorporate shading and lighting, and this in itself is very good. Some of the shadows aren't really needed and out of place. Since the majority of the lighted areas are toward the front of him, I'm assuming that is what you were going for. If so, then the arms shadow is inverted as well as a couple other places. The figure of the body isn't the best as well. Personally I think that this would look better outlined and with some highlights. I really like how you did the eye as well.

All in all, try adding more detail and precision to your artwork. I'm sure with a little practice you'll do great.
