No to anything buffing the speartons.

I agree with the spearton walk; it would be more like the original spearton in StickWar1. However, I feel that there should be something done so that people don't just walk all over the map with shield wall speartons and go wild.
I like what Buddy's new suggestion; which is that advancing speartons get no chance to shield bash, and that they have a reduced damage reduction.
This is still a little OP; what with the spear-archer formation being so popular, I could see kiting archers hiding behind it; but at least the spearton wall will be completely permeable to all enemy units.
This would pretty much be an inconsequential update; the new spearton has an automatic bash that makes a spearton wall really hard to pass through, so that walking spears are actually nerfed spears when compared to standing spears, since standing spears can delay enemy advances.
The only significant advantage I see to this would be that spears would be more viable without the shield bash upgrade; but anyone who's anyone will get shield bash nowadays, so if I'm correct, there should be very little impact to the game.
Edit: On second thought, with my reputation, I suppose my supporting this actually hurt this suggestion, didn't it?

How about you have to research spearton phalanx and the others, with a very high price, of course.

That's a Good Note, However this idea is dead because it is considered too OP to be implemented

There's a reason spears can't move when in shield wall. IT WOULD BE IMBA

Researching the spear phalanx, even for a high price, could make the game disbalanced. Spears are already mediocre early game, and totally dominate the mid game phase. With the spear phalanx, they could become key players in late game as well, turning the standard ultimate order army (giants and mages) into spear wall and more mages.
No matter how high the cost of spearton phalanx, turning such a key unit into a late-game beast would be a bit too much.

Spears are already pretty key in many late-game strategies. They're the most effective tank with shield bash and are way more versatile than giants - the other order tank.

Dunno where you're at but where I'm at speartons late game are a nice way to waste 3 population on something that isn't a meric. And versatile? Ninjas are far more versatile late game as giant-maulers and mage hunters.

To be fair, left over spear tech is nice to pick off giants that got micro'd to the back of the pack, or a mage. Obviously shinobi is much more effective, but yeah.

Tbh... I Suggest "Final Solution" on this thread now lol

Nah, I think spears are more versatile. They have their defensive capabilities, their offensive capabilities and a lot in between. Ninjas to me are just there to assassinate mages.

Ninja shinobi does major damage on giants if the enemy has no more merics/magikill to assassinate.

Shinobi only does 3 bars of damage, which I think is moot against huge health units like giants, also the poison won't make a large difference during the battle.

Yeah but well, can a spearton do more damage on a giant? Like, when a nearly-dead giant is backing down, you chase down the giant and shinobi it and thus - dead.

Spearton actually does almost nothing late game. Stun locks it meaning it can't do damage for cost. Shinobi's fixate does around 3/4th of a giant at full damage and shinobi does a crapload of damage. A few shadowrath and a giant at the back can be taken down, which can end up a win; a dead giant and a 2-bars-from-dead giant are VERY different game-wise.
