I was just thinking about all da hard work in da resource section, when a common idea crossed my mind.
I just thought of some kind of a money system dat we could use to buy stuff and sell stuff in the resource section. A system that could be arranged simply within posts.
So, well, I thought of this: why don't I make a post that would simply work as a bank, and it would contain a list of people's SP bank accounts and their SP credits. Somebody could simply say on the post,
"Pay this guy 100 coins or something," just something we could use to trade, not give-away for free.
Just pondering if it's worth it. Come on guys, tell me if this idea is shit or genious xD
PS, just some facts, cuz my Eng is bad: 1. I'm not talkin about real money. 2. I don't mean anything official.

Okay, I just mean this: A person posts something in the resource section, and puts a price tag for some amount of virtual coins that I host. Then the visitor comes, he has some coins on my system's account that I open by his request. He wants some resources. He puts a request on the post I'm going to make, in which he says that he pays an amount of those virtual coins from him to the owner. The owner sends him the resource, and that's it!

And with resources you mean things like animations, artwork, stuff like that?

Why wouldn't people just do that for free? Why need the virtual money?

Before FA merged with this place, it did infact have a currency system. It was originally meant for the very things you are saying now.

Unfortunately, after the merge with SP, this currency system has been attempted many times to be transplanted here via vBulletin's mods and each time resulted in either a fatal error, or a database failure because fuck vBullshit.

So to answer your question: No, such a system cannot currently exist due to technical difficulties, and no it cannot be made a reality anytime soon.

Um, Hewitt, I do understand that the system cannot be handled normally via VBulletin, I meant that when I said that this is not official.
I have a plan that is slightly more difficult to organize, but is still possible and accomplishable without mods.
So, first of all, here's the pattern:
There should be one, grand post that would be the "Bank Post"
It would contain a list of bank accounts, possibly an SWF if the post would turn out too long. People would register there by a post, a PM, or a VM. Later people could reply paying or withdrawal requests on the post, and the manager would manipulate the bank accounts.

On FluidAnims there was something called .oz, which was a custom built currency which slowly added up the more you posted (I think, I was there for just a day, and posted twice, lol), with it you could buy resources and I think actual merchandise, and convert real money, or so I think.
Failed attempt after failed attempt say no to trying anytime soon/at all.

Once again, as I said, I do not mean real money. So it's definitely not like the oz system. Simply this would mean trading, and the money that I mean would simply be earned by making other nice stuff on SP. I'm not talking of real money. 0%.
But if the administration will forbid this, then that's it. If not, maybe atleast this could be used by the members? I don't know...

But Oz is fake currency. What makes it any different from your proposal? You also missed my point. There is no gratification from selling resources with imaginary money.

First of all, what was money invented for in the first place: to do things! So, if this works out, people might be encouraged to make things for themselves and other people! A person could do things like resources and animations, (Well, there could be a reward for a good anim) in a rush to get something new like a nice sword resource, a nice, custom-written soundtrack, or anything else to make better things and get more!
But, once again, I'll forever bow down before the admins of stickpage, do everything I can to make it better, and stop if I'm wrong.
Secondly: that is not an issue. Referring to me, I am active, for a long time, but that's not the point. Any mod can edit a post, and in the worst case, anyone else could post it. But don't worry, I WILL find a way to connect for that matter, because the internet is reachable for me, anyway.

Alright, so back at Fluidanims, oz. was a currency that was given to you every time you posted. The amount of .oz given to you was based on the content of your post, and it was also used in official contests and whatever else that ran during the time as it was implemented as a prize.

The difference was, it wasn't like people were earning .oz for nothing. Fluidanims had a merchandise store in which you could buy things with the .oz you had (Like FA hoodies, t-shirts, posters, I think one of the items was a bamboo pen but I'm not too sure). Adding to that, you could also set up your own shops with a price on .oz.

The thing is, there's not really much of a reason to implement a currency system if there isn't something you can do with it. Fluidanims allowed you to spend its currency on actual items in the store, and unless Stickpage is able to do the same (which I doubt considering the differences in phpbb and vBulletin forums), I doubt we'll see a currency system any time soon.
