(first off im not sure if theres a suggestion section i cant find any but i could just be being lazy. If there is one please move this there kthanks)
So one day a while back i had this idea thats probably really dumb, acted RHG's. its basically what it sounds like, filmed RHG battles with live action. I realize that theres a ton of flaws with this idea but it could work i guess. I'm just throwing this idea out there to see who thinks that its a cool idea quite frankly. how it would work is you come up with a character, and you get props and a semi-costume (nothing to hard to imitate, leave room for variety because not everyone will have the same exact materials as you) and then you get a friend and have them act as your opponents aRHG and choreograph a fight, film it, edit it, and then you have an acted RHG battle. The only reason i came up with this is because I dont really have any artistic talents besides acting, which isnt really featured here (understandably so... but still). and it just seems like a way to broaden the RHG idea. So do you guys think this idea is actually worth something? or is it just a really stupid idea?
Strange idea: aRHG?

its not a half bad idea. (Though at first I though aRHG mean artists RHG :I )
But it would be quite complicated and would probably take longer than making a normal animation.

I'll stop you right there and say that this idea sucks.
Contrary to what you think, such an idea was proposed ages ago on FA, and it was met with scathing responses. The general consensus is just basically: you do RHGs because it is an exercise in animation. If you turn it into some kind of kinky fan thing, then it loses its point as an animation medium.
Of course the guy was also a furry so that was probably also a reason why nobody liked him, but I digress.

To be completely honest with you, if you have a willing friend and a camera (that sounded clean before I typed it by the way) you could just make your own clips without the restrictions. Besides, I feel like a friend would be more inclined to act out "The bad guy" than R011-0UT the robot.
Just have some fun, if you've got a plot in mind go for it.

Here's my question: why does a competition based on the art of making short films have to be a literal battle? Animating Sticks is a no-brainer since there is nothing more entertaining than sticks fighting but the intricacies of filming movies have layers of complexity and depth that are far better explored with various themes. What exactly is one trying to prove when filming aRHGs? That your editing/fx/production/acting skills are top-notch because you managed to emulate a realistic jet sword saint?

Fun and experimentation are probable reasons.
EDIT: It just stops there really, and the whole thing isn't really gonna be viable if you want to have a real battle.

I remember seeing Mikematic try this idea once. It was bad. Really bad. And in typical fashion, not finished

I can see what you guys mean. although I didn't really think of it as a showing off of skills. I just thought of it because I have ideas for some epic battles but I can't animate for my life so the only other way to display them in a form of moving art is to film it. And hewitt im not sure if you have me wrong or I have you wrong but it's not supposed to be like you film a fight as a popular rhg character. You're meant to come up with your own new character and act as that. not reenact a fight between fllffl and yo yo or whatever. If that didn't change your mind than alright. just trying to clear some misconceptions here

I don't like seeing films of rhg battles, but I like seeing a movie about it, unless it's made by Disney or Universal Studios or some expert movie company.
Thing is, you have to consider real life situations. Like, how can I throw a yoyo at your face? I can barely even make a yoyo trick. Or, where can I find some nun- chuck expert to fight me?
Rhgs were meant to be animated, that's why it looks x10 better than filming it, and you know, all the moves RHGs use are quite impossible to do irl.

This was actually the first time I clicked "view post" for someone on my ignore list and didn't regret it. Keep it up. Guitarii!
Basically, this. Just about anything you want to do with RHG can be animated, but it doesn't go the other way around. RHGs have impossible superpowers. That's half the fun. If you have the resources to do that on a live action film then you should be making something people actually want to watch.

You're on my ignore list? I have never been so happy of myself before.

alright then, i was just thinking that its possible to kind of physically reenact actual RHG's but yeah. I can completely see how stupid this idea actually is, i just thought of spit-balling.

Shaq, you've got to stop locking and binning every thread that's "done". There is such a thing as letting things sink when a discussion is "over". You never know if people have something else to say. You only bin threads if its obvious that the thread has devolved into spamville or something other.

It's not a bad idea if you try to move on from the RHG moniker. It's a bold new thing that you should try out. Why do you have to specifically reenact RHG battles? You've shown that you are willing to acquire and produce all these tools and props. There's so much more you can do (and if you wish, get people in on it) with all that stuff. Like this

I think the idea would be great on maybe another forum based upon the idea of move making.

In my honest opinion, this could work. It won't be as popular as the Norma rhg section ofcourse, but it could be placed somewhere along the lines as a whole new thread, just look at wRHG. I don't write, so I don't go near that place(though I actually do write). Filmmaking is not for everyone, just as animation isn't for everyone. You never know how many filmmakers may be on this site, especially since it's a growing community by year. It would be set up just as the rhg and wRHG section, just video based. Personally, I'd call it vRHG. Good luck on your idea.
Edit: Btw, you guys seem to underestimate cgi, RHG is more possible in videos than you guys may think. Filmmaking isn't just the process of shooting a film, it also the editing(making).
