View Profile So Jomm is on darkdemon and I wanted to show him this cause he is kinda doing pivot (at a level just over mine) and I wanted the people here to see it cause why not.
It's way different from what I normally do but here it is

Yay!! Party!!! I suck at combos so I had to sacrifice a bit of smoothness to get the attacks right.

View Profile You should probably have a look at your easing and your flow. These are opposites of each other, so you need to find a good balance between the two.
I would properly CC this but I know it's not your official animation thread, so I don't wanna delve too deep

View Profile Keep the figure at a continuous motion. You stopped his origin flow and made it look stiff.
But I liked the combo still. Nice work.

View Profile The feet had some kind of weird thing they stood on. It seemed as if it was a hill or something. The explosion thingy was was decent i guess but it ended weirdly. Fire doesn't just disappears. It burst into particles or alphas away.

Yeah I thought that was weird too but the effect only went to the part before it's just gone so that's all I could put.

View Profile The Jomm statement did not have much to did with anything.
But onto cc, Your moments are not very good and you don't ease well. You pretty much don't have the basic skills down for pivot. For another tip you should move all the joints every frame.
Low beginner.

View Profile I love how Flash people are trying to cnc pivot, hearts in the right place though. But just saying "That's good" and stuff like that when it's not doesn't help.
Read zed's tutorial, I can't stress enough ho much it will help you and stay away from dbz and the like. They will build horrible habits that will be hard and discouraging to get rid of. Stick to simple movements with one stick. A kick, different variations of kicks. A punch, then different variations of punches. Then, try linking punches and kicks by using the previous attacks momentum. Maybe read some tutorials on Shuniu or DarkDemon, they have plenty and can help you sooooo much. Move every joint and each frame, keep the movements flowing and have fun.

It also helps to look at higher ranked animators animation, and maybe ask them why they did this specific movement or how they did.

View Profile The first problem I see with your work is the sharp blocky and stiff movement of everything you do. Your limbs jump haphazardly from one stand still to another. The limbs need a lot of inbetween movement, compared to having none at all.
The root (and biggest) problem with this is your sole attention to one or two limbs at a time, and the constant shifting between them. Do not just have one limb move at a time, which is a problem a lot of users here are guilty of. Does the body freeze when you arm moves when you punch? No, the body is constantly moving. In every frame, you need to move every limb, even if that means moving each node over a few pixels. Stop focusing on just one movement, when there should be constant multiple movements throughout your animations.
I'm not going to say anything about the fire effect because it isn't yours, so what's the point in commenting about something you don't own?
I want you to look at the top DarkDemon animators, and if you can, find a .piv file (or break apart a .gif file, which you can do by simply importing it into Flash), and very carefully study the movements.

Holy shit you don't know how pivot effects work. It's not ever about if you made the effects, though if you're not shit it's a plus, but how you pull off effects. Many MANY great pivot animator don't make their own effects. They just incorporate them in unconventional ways.

You say this as if it was not possible for him to make a better effect.

I actually animate in pivot and animating still has the same principles no matter what program you use.

That's nice, but it's difficult for a novice to understand and get better unless you're giving him specific help with what it is he needs to improve on in his program. May have the same principles, but still very different. It's nice that they're trying to help, but it's hard to improve when you have no real higher ranked pivot presence.

With how he is now, it's very unlikely. Unless he would have. Still my point, most pivot effects are shared as sets and most of the time used not for their intended purpose.
