If I may give my give him some defense?
I'm not much of a gamer, nor am I a fan of Pewdiepie, but from what I know of him, he isn't a bad person. I have watched a few of his playthroughs just so I can get the story of a game without actually buying it, so I have a pretty good idea what his style of humor is.
I'd like to start by saying that he's contributed to charity a number of times. Rather than just sitting on a throne of Youtube subscribers, he actually tries to get them involved in projects like providing clean water for the impoverished. That, in and of itself, is really a nice thing to do. I don't see how you can hate someone who not only participates in charities, but also encourages others to do the same. He also seems to be just fine irl. He's got a good family, and for all purposes seems to be a productive member of society. Rather than wasting their time on a stick animation forum (where most of the people don't even animate), he manages to bring some enjoyment to his viewers, regardless of their intelligence. So far, he's active in charity, and makes other people smile...
Furthermore, nobody is strapping you down and forcing you to watch his videos. This isn't some horror movie with Nicolas Cage-acting. You know how a lot of celebrities hit it big? They do something stupid. So ridiculously stupid that people like you go out and spread the word about how dumb they are. This, in turn, raises the media's awareness of them, and makes them popular. So, my advice to people who don't like his videos is this: Don't watch it. Don't talk about it. Just forget it happened.
Honestly, I think most of the people who hate the famous are insecure and need to spend their time elsewhere. Plenty of people who don't like others are also following the media bandwagon. I'd like to use Justin Bieber* as a good corollary to Pewdiepie. Sure, you might not like his music, but what makes you hate him? Did he kill your parents? Harm you in any way? What about him made you dislike him? Or is it just fun to pick on someone because everyone else is doing it? I can ask a lot of people I know (some of them with A grades and plenty of knowledge) why they don't like a certain actor, and they'll stumble to try and find reasons. Here's a hint: it's because everyone else told them that they sucked. Take some basic sociology. If someone influential says something, there are usual plenty of people ready to parrot it to others.
Rant done. I can continue further, but I think I've made my point. Anybody care to debate?
*Please note I'm referring to him when he originally got famous, not at this point in time.
