I did not get this from a wiki, if that is what you are implying.

Actually I think he's implying that you're so full of manure that the local farmers are losing business because you keep on producing such large amounts of feces at alarming rates and there is no hope in sight of it stopping so now the farmers wife is threatening to leave him while poor little jimmy starves because daddy can't find any work so he tries to talk to his fellow farmer friends on skype but oops he got a virus and can't seem to reverse engineer the software and hack the hacker by stealing his keys to his tractor and ramming it straight up your urethra tract.

Simple version: THe guy who made the virus has to send the key to unlock your stuff. Sneak a keylogger/spyware into his computer and you can steal the keys.

omg will you listen to yourself? A CS Major somewhere is crying right now because of you. Heck, every programmer on this site is restraining themselves from eviscerating your ass right now because of the shit you're talking about, to the point that it's not even worth explaining how wrong you are. Don't fucking negative me, dumbass. I suggest you actually do the math and attempt to code this "reverse-keylogger" yourself and you'll see how stupid that statement is.

Injecting software into the ransomware's coding that latches onto data sent to the C&C server it relies on could allow the author's computer to be infected when he/she connects to it. From there, ALL private keys for decrypting targeted files can likely be located when the author sends one from its location on his computer. It has to be assumed that the private keys are named in a specific manner that indicates what computer it goes to, as the ransomware relies on interaction from the author to send the decryption key when the ransom is paid. By comparing patterns in each of the private keys, it would theoretically be possible to make a keygen that uses the public encryption key listed by the ransomware's notification window to create the working decryption key.

Last I checked, this is General Discussion, not Original Literature. Please, stop sharing your Dan Brown fanfiction here. Digital Fortress was fucking terrible, we don't need another shit-talker who knows shit about hacking.

Have you thought about pinging the local server at 192.168.1.0 and seeing if you can get a seeding ratio high enough to inject the worm with a trojan in order to direct the thermo nuclear missles towards your mother house.
