This might get sappy.

I have been poking around this site for a while now. Like, longer than you'd believe. Lots longer than before FA merged with Stickpage.
I believe I was in middle school when I first ran into this site. I was googling something on a late night when the rest of the family was in bed and I happened to get on Stickpage. I spent a good hour or two looking at stick fights before going to bed. I didn't get on the site everyday, but every so often I would play games and maybe look at a video or two. Eventually I forgot about this place because my family was going through rough times and we didn't have internet for a couple months. Years later, I ran into some random videos dispersed throughout youtube with titles containing RHG in them. I was confused a bit because I didn't know what the theme or plot was behind these videos, but I didn't care, the action packed content were enticing enough to peak my interests. The concept of making, albeit, a simple character and pitting it against others tempted me again and again to start my own RHG, but due to my lack of proper animation software it was impossible to pull through. Soon after learning about those videos, I found out that the people who were hosting RHG merged with Stickpage.

Now, after a long time of skulking around the forums I'm finally going to crawl out of my hole and show myself. I am Capn Squidy, a proud freshman in college. On the road of getting a bachelors degree in animation. I do lack animation software right now, but hopefully in the near future I will be able to participate with everyone else.

TL;DR: I lurked for long time, I'm here for long time.

Thank you! I got a good look at the rules earlier and I don't plan on breaking them anytime soon.
Edit: Accidentally replied to a RHG post from May of 2013, not keeping up a good streak.

Thanks Isaac, I hope that I can start animating as soon as possible. I've been waiting to do animations for a long while now, and I hope I will be able to collaborate with others in the near future.

Hello there, Capn. Welcome to StickPage. :)
I did lurk on FA and SP after the merge for awhile before deciding to register here, too. That' was around...3 years ago, or more, I forgot ^^"

Anyway, nice to meet you. Hope you enjoy your stay, and good luck animating. Oh and if I may know, what software are you planning to use for making your animations?

I've been looking to use flash for the longest while, but I think I might go with Toon Boom instead. My college uses Toon Boom for 2D animations and since I will be paying to learn that application anyways I might as well use if for future collaborations and RHGs when I get around to making a character and such. Granted if I do collaborate with others, I might need to use flash.

*High five*

Welcome, welcome!

You seem like a cool guy. An animation program I can recommend aside from Flash would be Easytoon, it may not be as versatile as flash, lacking colors and pixel based instead of vector based, but, the premise and usage is pretty similar to flash, as you draw frame by frame. Toon Boom would be an alright program, but to my knowledge, it doesn't let you draw your character in Toon Boom, but has you rig them, right? If so, that would severely limit your cinematic angle potential compared to when you use a program that you draw on, unless you're willing to rig everything.

Also, when you receive CnC, know that its just that. No need to backlash at them, even when it sounds mean, take it as CnC still and thank them for the comments.

Lastly, if you need help with concepts for your RHG, feel free to PM me :D

Good luck! :D

You want to get a degree in animation because you liked watching stickfigure animations? You don't even have any background in animating and now you intend to pursue a career in it?

I never said stickfigure animations were the reason why I wanted to get a bachelors degree. I wanted to get into animation since I was lil' Squidy Jr. and stick fights were just a cool little thing that I wanted to get in on. And yes, I don't have a background in animation yet, but thats why I'm in college in the first place, so I can an internship and learn the trick of the trade.
