4chan is becoming quite the popular thing. This can be seen in a good and bad light.

Lately, 4chan and /b/ have been getting popular. Time interviewed moot, and more big-time newspapers are talking about memes and they're actually being used in programming.

I was just watching the daily show talking about the photoshopped Iranian missiles, and it lead to a point where they used the rickroll...this caught me off guard. I also heard from my brother that it was on the COlbert Report too.

Another time, is that I was watching the news and when they go to commercial they show a shot of San Diego with some music and fade out. One morning, they played Never Gonna Give You Up. Again, totally caught off guard.

There is also a Youtube video of some announcers on the news rickrolling the anchor people for aprils fools.

There was even a thing where a news show was showing children drawing involving the olympics...one was of goatse, subliminal...but goatse was there.

I'm sure there are numerous other examples of memes and 4chan of being popular. I had an idea.

/b/ is smart, filled to the brim with jackasses, but they can organize. What if they planned something, something big that can really put any raid they have done to shame. What they can do, I have no idea. Maybe some meme that will also be popular and make everyone look like an ass, or harm them (Computer virus wise) in some way. Of course this couldn't be discussed on /b/, the world in watching them and they would catch on. So some secret place would have to be told about, maybe amongst /b/tards who know each other IRL, who can tell other /b/tards they know across the country.

4chan has a new found power, popularity. The "Christopher Poole" thing can be used as an example, it made TIME look like asses. The initials "CP" and of course "Pooles closed". Something like this, but on a larger scale is what I'm talking about.

I can see it coming. They'll change history somehow. Hopefully by assasinating the leaders of Scientology or something. Maybe something bigger. Maybe they'll become the underground Brotherhood of a 1984 type scenario?

It's a decent point but I'm not sure if they can get serious enough to do some real harm. Sure, scaring off newfags with horrible stuff, they can do that as much as they want. But I think the world sees only the memes and thinks "oh how cute, they have these little trends" and not what really goes on. And rickroll is just old, who cares anyway.

But goatse and the olympics was gold, I lol'd.

I've noticed exactly what you're talking about. I expect that 4chan, /b/ specifically, could change any thing they wanted to if they really wanted to. But /b/tards are to lazy or not caring to do anything about anything. They showed some of their true power with the IRL Scientology protest. But I think they have much more power than that if all of 4chan gets behind it.

i remember this one time this guy who was going to bomb a church put up a bunch of pictures of the churches he was going to bomb and some guys on /b/, using only the last name and ID card on the bottom of the photos, found out everything about him (by this i mean name, address, social security, crazy shit like that) and reported him to the police and they arrested him.
they certainly can do shit, but i doubt anyone would do something huge if one random person asked them to.
