Quote from Firefly
Yeah, it sounds like my problem is just something I have to work on personally but I do try, and for some reason it's just still hard for me to be myself around certain people. So I figured if I just have something to slightly take away my inhibitions, that it might help. It's strange cause I'm very on the ball in those situations, making jokes and being friendly. I'd be a total superstar if I could just let my WHOLE personality shine through even when I'm feeling stressed or intimidated. When I feel like I'm with my boys and I'm the center of the attention, I'm like hot damn I'm on a roll lol. And then as soon as I feel like I'm not the top dog in the room, I'm reserved and the wit doesn't flow and I'm socially just holding back. PSYCHOLOGY RIGHT? Idk....Ultimately your advice is right and helpful I just have tried to do it on my own and it's still not where I want to be. Also I rarely drink coffee lol.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Damn, just look at that indifference. Even Hewitt can't help himself, he has to literally sexually harass firefly. But scarecrow is 3cool5school.
He's got a leather jacket with a popped up collar, riding his kawasaki ninja with no hands because he's too busy dual wielding uzis or putting his shades on.

Cooler than polar bear jizz.

Suggesting apps to Firefly is not sexual harrassment. Thanks to me, his boyfriend can now have the luxury of going places without having to pleasure her every night

i already gave my advice, so i don't have much else to add, but i suppose it's worth mentioning that if you are using an app for meditation you probably (definitely) have some misconceptions about meditation

ps. my perpetual 'busy' status on skype is a lie

It's called "Insight Timer" and it's a directory full of guided meditations. With different intentions based on what you're trying to achieve -- mindfulness, loving-kindness meditation or just basic beginner. So they're recordings. Instead of listening to it on a CD Player, you plug your earphone into your phone. It also lets you see how many people are meditating around the world at any given time. I have it on my phone to help me remember to do it and I really enjoy those ones. I've been around meditation my whole life, frank you very much. I'm very familiar with it.

not to sound holier-than-thou or anything, but it really sounds to me like you have the wrong idea.

there shouldn't be any purpose or intent or anything like that. those things are just going to become a distraction from actually letting your mind switch off to allow the real benefits to kick in. all meditation should lead to the same place, so intending to have mindfulness or loving kindness or that sort of thing is redundant and just provides expectations that will hinder your progress in the long run.

you surrender the ego, kill mind, become open and receptive, and just chill. then those things have the opportunity to come on their own. the only question about how to meditate is what works for you to kill your ego, mind. everything else is unnecessary, misconceptions, buzzwords, religion, new-age psuedomeditative bullshit, ego in the form of pretending to be egoless, whatever you want to call it

Well what I'm just saying is there was a point where I was meditating every morning, not guided with intentions. Just to music or outside. So I have done that and did it for a while once in the morning and once at night. But I do enjoy guided meditation with intentions in mindfulness which has been used for centuries and is good for you as well. It's just a different type of meditation and I personally have found it helpful in other areas of my life not related to the question.
