Open For Challenges!
EDIT 7/30:
Well this is embarrassing to say, mainly because I pride myself on being as original as can be for the most part, and I didn't even realize it while I was making Floris, but I managed to throw not one character, but THREE different plant-based characters from THREE different Mega Man series together while creating Floris. I intentionally used PlantMan.EXE from the Battle Network series as an appearance model, but I managed to unknowingly give him the abilities of PlantMan.EXE, Plantman (from the original Mega Man series) and Rospark from Megaman ZX into Floris. I know it probably doesn't matter as much to you as it does to me, but still, it bugs me a bit, so don't be surprised if you see a post where I kill Floris off and replace him with someone who is original.
Name: Floris
In this form, Floris is curled up inside
the large flower petals on his back. This form, when exposed to sunlight, greatly increases the growth rate of all components of Floris’ body, giving him a higher rate of healing and can possibly send him into overgrowth mode, though this is extremely rare (I don’t plan to use overgrowth mode, so it will not be explained).
The cone-shaped fungi on Floris’ shoul
ders are capable of releasing three different spore types; sleep, paralysis, and poison. The sleep and paralysis spores each are comprised of a different type of neurotoxin, each capable of making the target either fall asleep or lose the ability to move if enough is breathed in. The poison toxin is comprised of a chemical compound dangerous to most creatures, which makes it dangerous to breathe in. Spores are able to be released in a short jet burst or a large cloud. Floris is immune to his spores.
Located on his knees, elbows, and knuckl
es are small patches of Oak Bark. This provides minor protection against minor attacks, and also makes those areas a bit harder when they strike an opponent.
Floris is a plant, so logically, the sun
makes him grow. Any form of natural or magickal light will trigger this, but it will not be triggered by artificial light (This means the sun and light magick will activate this ability, but not light from something like a lightbulb, or the reflected light of the sun off of the moon during the night). The more light sources, the faster the regeneration. This means that Floris is resistant to some forms of light magick, as he will simply absorb it. He is capable of regenerating lost limbs if given enough time in the sun, even to the point of regenerating his entire body, but this is time consuming to do.
The factor of Floris' healing ability ca
n be determined by calculating the amount of sun radiation and multiplying that by a number along an exponential growth curve in which the exponent X is indirectly related to the severity of the wound, whereby the product of these two numbers equals the number of cells regenerated per second.

Over time, if they stay in the light, th
e vines that grow out of his flower base will reach a maturity stage in which they develop bulbs, and then those bulbs will blossom into one of four flower types based on the vine it grows on. Each of these flowers is a different color of lotus. From the vine that is colored the lightest shade of green to the darkest, the vines grow red, blue, yellow, and green lotus flowers. These lotus flowers can have their petals turned into a deadly projectile, their effect based on the color of the lotus. Red is skin-scorching, blue is ice-spiked, yellow is arc-sparking, and green is wind-cutting.
Floris has a pair of seed pods growing o
ut of his body, one on each wrist. Floris can launch the seeds inside of these pods at speeds around that of the running speed of the average human. Floris can only store up to five of these seeds at any given time, and it takes roughly ten minutes to generate new seeds to launch. There are two different seed types that Floris is capable of firing. The first is a hard shell that shatters on impact, the steel-strength fragments digging into whatever it strikes. The second is a soft shell that splits in half upon impact, starting the growth of a quick-growing and extremely tough root system. The root seed is not extremely painful like the shatter seed, but it is capable of causing the target’s joints to lock up if they strike and grow around the joint.

This is a form Floris tends to use when
the going gets especially tough. The way this form works is that his body’s plant parts become almost like armor for him. His vines curl around his arms and legs. The petals of the Bio-flower wrap around his torso, one over each shoulder and one under each arm; the petals then harder to steel-like hardness. Finally the jaws of the flytrap growing on the back of his close, forming his helmet. In this form, Floris will use hand-to-hand combat mainly, but is still able to use his seed spitter and spore cloud attacks. He cannot, however, use the projectile abilities of the lotus flowers, they instead become contact weaponry acting like spiked armor in a sense.

Personally, I think it’d be easier to
talk about Floris’ attributes in general over just his weaknesses, i.e. the specifics of what it takes to hurt him and each of his body.
There is no resistance to fire, in fact
quite the opposite, on a dry, hot day without enough water in the air or in Floris’ reserves, the slightest of sparks can cause him to catch fire.
Literally one of his sources of life, th
is is not the best thing to try and take him down with unless you plan on putting him deep enough to keep him from absorbing any light or using it under pressure to cut off his limbs.
His bones and skin have the same strengt
h as standard human bones.
The vines that grow out of his back have
a higher tinsel strength than standard plants. They each are capable of standing up to the attacks of most light blades and most blunt weaponry. If a weapon is too dull, the blade or blunt weapon will only be capable of kind of whacking the vines out of the way. Even with some medium blades, or only partially sharpened blades, they probably won’t be able to cut through the vines in one swing. Only heavy blades will be able to cut through in one swing. As for blunt weapons, the only real ability to use them is to get them between another hard object and crush it.
The ability of the mushrooms growing on
Floris’ back to resist damage is low, if you can get close, it is easy to sever the stem and render the mushrooms useless, however upon being cut, the mushrooms will release one final burst of spore powder.
The Lotus flowers growing on the vines a
re capable of resisting minor impacts, but are almost like a reinforced glass material, and will shatter if they strike a hard object. Being shattered will cause the flower petals to release the elemental energy stored inside in a small burst.
This thing is able to change its propert
ies between that of a steel replica of itself and a normal plant, though unless in melee forme, Floris will usually keep it in its fluid, plant-like state, to keep him from getting weighed down by having a steel flower on his back.
The flytrap helm actually doesn’t do m
uch unless it’s closed, but it has the same resistance rating as the vines.

Floris actually was born as a human, con
trary to popular belief. He grew up in a rich family, and was used to being the center of attention. He couldn’t have wished for anything more than what he had, it was all just so perfect.
Floris’ father was a scientist, a bioengineer and botanist (Shhhh, I know you can tell where this is going, but just keep going). His father’s main project was the development of the Bio-flower, a massive flower with insane regenerative abilities. His intention was to first create this plant, and then study its DNA to be able to implant the regenerative genes into humans, allowing them to have a failing heart cut out so that they can regenerate a perfectly functioning, healthy heart. The intentions of Floris’ father were pure, but of course, the military got wind of the project and…big surprise…they wanted to weaponize it to create super soldiers.
Floris’ father refused to allow the military to do this, and one day, while Floris, at the age of 20, was helping his dad in the lab, the military came knocking at the door. They tried to force control over the Bio-Flower, but during the ensuing fight between the guards and the military, the suspension chamber that held the incomplete Bio-Flower was ruptured, and amidst the chaos, the Bio-Flower, under its own consciousness, latched itself onto Floris, imbedding its roots deep within Floris’ nervous system, mutating Floris into a prototype of what he currently is.
Floris managed to escape the chaos, but unfortunately, he could not save his father. Floris was deeply heartbroken by the loss of his father, and the companionship of the Bio-Flower latched to his waist got him pegged as a monster and outcast from society. As he began wandering through the woods outside his hometown, he began to learn that his father had actually predicted the events that had transpired, and had manipulated the genes of the Bio-Flower. These modifications led to the Bio-Flower being able to evolve based on the adaptations of other plant life, and eventually, Floris and the Bio-Flower evolved into the being they are today.
Through Floris’ wandering, he eventually stumbled upon a cave deemed by many as the ‘Cave of the Dark Light,’ due to the alluring glow of light coming from within, which, as it would happen, was guarded, heavily, by a giant moss golem. Floris entered the cave, discovering a massive cavern system within, one which housed an underground forest full of bioluminescent plant life and beauty beyond compare, and the moss golem, which Floris defeated to claim the underground forest as his new home.
Floris is a quiet one, preferring to wat
ch others from the safety of his home. He will try to avoid fighting by using his stunning spores so he can knock an opponent out and cart them away before they realize what’s happening. He tries to stay out of trouble but won’t hold back if he’s truly threatened. Most people don’t really get to see what he’s like as a person.
Floris stands roughly 5’ 7” tall, an
d has a thin, humanoid build. His agile frame is covered in a variety of plant life, including the green skin that replaces his normal skin. His eyes sparkle like little yellow gems inset into his skull. On his back, right in the center of his spine, lies the bio-flower, a four-petaled flower roughly 4 feet from petal tip to petal tip. The petals are each colored red with a green outline and inlayed with a series of blue dots aligned in a linear pattern. His shoulders bear a pair of tall, funnel-shaped mushrooms, tan in color. His knuckles, knees, and elbows are brown and raised with the oak bark that covers them. His skin has a few growths on the arms, legs, torso and groin that are a darker green than the rest of his skin, and eliminate the need for him to cover himself with clothing. His wrists bear a pair of small, gourd-shaped seed pouches. Finally, the center of his head has the maw of a venus fly-trap growing around the sides of his head.

“Someone has entered my home,” Flori
s sighed, the petals of his bulb folding backwards as his vines disconnected from the cave walls, allowing him to drop down to his feet. He began walking through the matrix of tunnels to find the intruder.
Floris entered the entrance chamber to the cavern, standing atop the highest point in the room. He watched the man step through the chamber slowly. “He’s cautious, that’s good, he’ll need that to survive my cavern,” Floris uttered slowly.
The man wore heavy armor, and seemed to carry a large staff on his back, at least that’s what Floris could tell from his perch. He decided he’d stay out of the path of the adventurer, and see the man’s reaction to the moss golem before confronting him. He wanted to take this methodically, and didn’t want to act without knowing the intention of the man. He wouldn’t want to kill an innocent man.
The man entered the next chamber of the cavern within a few minutes, after surveying the previous room a bit. He could just barely make out the man talking to himself as he entered the Guardian Chamber, the chamber of the Moss Golem.
“Come on, where is he? I know he’s here somewhere,” the man stated as he clanked into the room, awakening the moss golem.
The moss golem uncurled from its resting position, towering high over the man, easily twice the man’s height.
“Dammit…Floris, you sly bastard. I thought you had killed this thing, though you only beat it into submission,” The man sighed, looking around the room. “If you’re there Floris, please, I want you to call this thing off. I only want to talk, please.”
“Golem, stand down,” Floris said calmly, detecting sincerity in the man’s tone. He would never truly trust anyone again after what had happened to him, but he would give the man some trust, there was no need for senseless violence. The golem’s eyes dimmed and its body fell limp as it fell back into slumber.
“Come to the next chamber if you wish to talk to me,” Floris said as he swung one of his vines around a root hanging from the ceiling. He lifted his legs and allowed himself to swing across the gap between him and the ledge on the opposite end of the room.
The man followed Floris, who passed through the gateway above and then jumped from the ledge to the floor below, and stood at the center of the room. The man stepped forward into the room. Floris could see now that the man was not a man at all. It was a machine of sorts, with a brass-colored outer shell, and gears spinning all over his body.
“Who are you and why did you invade my home?” Floris asked, the suspicion in his voice more than evident.
“I’m a fighter in a sort of competition, where some of the best fighters around gather to compete with one another. This competition is known as the Rock Hard Gladiator, or RHG competition. I am known as the Steam Punk Powerhouse, Roshinok Versailles. Unfortunately, I am retiring soon and need to locate a suitable fighter to take my place,” The man explained, taking a fighting stance in front of Floris, “I wish for you to take my place, but only if you can stand up to me in combat.”
“I do not wish to fight you, but I can tell your resolve is unchangeable,” Floris sighed, sliding his foot backwards. His vines began coiling around his arms, and the petals of the bio-flower locked around his chest before hardening tight around his torso. “If you wish to fight, I will accept your challenge,” Floris shook his head as the maw of the flytrap enclosed around his head. The pathways to the other rooms suddenly slammed shut, blocked by a number of quick-growing vines, trapping the man in his chamber. If Floris was going to fight, he was going to
