So, I'm playing xbox right, then it freezes, making some weird ass buzz saw noise. I try to restart it, 3 rings of death.


BUT for some reason, if I restart it, it works for like 10 minutes, then freezes, then turn back on, 3 rings of death.


So..

I'm fucked. ?

What do I do.

Well, you have two options. You can either A. Do the towel trick (google it) or B. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and set up a repair order.

Do you still have a warranty?

I had a power failure and I bashed into my Xbox and got the 3 rings too. For me it only lasted about a week.

Call the technical support line before you send it in.

3 rings means a hardware failure, there are a lot of different things that could have happened. For example, it happened to me once, and then nothing would show up on the screen even when the cables were plugged in. All I had to do was remove the hard drive, unplug it, and then plug everything back in and it worked fine.

I had the same problem...call xbox support at 1-800-469-9269. You get a free package and a free 3 year warrenty. NOTE: it takes 6-8 weeks for a repair. Unless you live in texas.

I heard that the warranty has been upgraded to 3 years... is this true?

Or send it back, get it fixed, sell it, then buy the Arcade package. It has a better processor (no more RROD) and its alot quieter.

You can do what I did to fix mine. I took a large tube sock and opened the disk drive, then inserted the tube sock, then closed the disk drive, left for 20ish minutes and then my xbox wasnt red ringing anymore.
