I'll go for it. I'm just mucking about in Ableton Live right now. I'll be happy to produce a beat.

EDIT: Alright, so I just produced this beat real quick. I also gave it a quick master and stereotized the beat so it could sound a bit more professional, and I think it's pretty suitable toward our collab!

Also, the beat is set at 110 BPM for anyone who's interested in laying some instruments over it

sweet deal man! Instrumentalists, work your magic

I'll need to see whos in this thing, so first come first serve grabs it. I'm thinking a pianist could start off with a chorus line and a guitarist added later to fill it. or vice versa. A few whistles and snaps couldn't hurt.

Fantastic.
We'll stay tuned for now.

In the meantime, what genre of music should we produce here? Blues? Jazz? Ideas would be great

The drum beat tsang made wouldn't really work with blues or jazz, I'm not really concerned with genre. I'll keep the chord progression simple

Here's a sample of my beatboxing.

Please take note that I was beatboxing into the earphone part of a pair of headphones plugged into my mic port. I don't have access to a decent mic, so please don't judge too harshly, I'm aware I'm not very good.

Better than me, I'd say you're gold all except for that sound quality as you mentioned.

Hopefully there's something we could do about that

This actually the first time in a long time I've heard anyone beat box. It sounded like there were instruments involved which makes this even more awesome.

Yeee! This would actually overlap pretty well with the beat I made above!

So, I'm a bit of a generalist as far as creating music.
As far as production goes I'm sort of an all in one package.
I love to create experimental and guesswork music, but I've managed to get into music that's more within the constraints of genres.

Here's some of my personal favorites out of my work;
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/518586 - Orchestral + Softrock with Reggae and Electronic Elements + Special Outro variation.
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/575352 - Hard Rock/Metal Hyrbid (Heptatonic scale)
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/553144 - Modern HipHop with Orchestral + Middle Eastern Elements
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/470863 - Electronic Ambient with Game-like Elements

I have a rig for selective noise removal, but generally speaking you're going to want the recording to be as clean as possible anyways.
Because it's extremely hard to clean a recording that was bad in the first place without destroying some of the sound you want to preserve.
Best recommendation is to record two or three times and then pick up the parts you want to keep and then clean it after you've made your Frankenstein out of them.

Also if I recall correctly, Exilement(Prospect) got me back into music when I was at a dead-end with it back in like 2009 or 2010.

not really, most of the noise is in the higher frequencies that you want to filter out anyway. as long as the room is quiet and the microphone is actually a microphone and not attached to a pair of earphones or something, there shouldn't be any problems. if those two criteria aren't options for someone, they probably shouldn't be contributing to this. it's not asking much.

cool to hear I got you back into music though, I had no idea.

Bump, cause I don't want this to die.

Should I go ahead with the file since Exilement seems to be elsewhere?
