So I borrowed an external hard disk by one of my Senior High friends, just to copy Sony Vegas Pro ver.12 and another software I forgot. And in some reason, this (encircled) motherfucking file appeared, and is in every single folder in the computer, no matter if it's a folder inside a folder, just every single folder. I'm too godamn tired to delete all of these, and it'll take me years since my sister place a hellalot of folders in here back then, and there are like, A FUCKING LOT OF FOLDERS.

Additional info:
The name will depend on the folder's name
Is always 725/726 kb
Always looks like this
When double clicked, it loads, and then sends out Yahoo! Messenger. idk why

Any tips on how to get rid of these space taking kind of file?

that's fucking weird. so the file looks like whatever folder it's in, but it opens yahoo messenger when you open it? did you try doing a system restore?

I can't find anything related to this problem on google anywhere

That's really strange, try asking in the microsoft community forum here .Click participate then ask a question.
Edit- or you can try uninstalling the programme (yahoo ,massenger) from the add or remove programmes software. If it doesn't help, then ^

You do realize that says "Application" not folder yee?
That's all I can see that's out of place and rings an immediate red flag.

He said it takes the name of whatever folder it's in, so it probably takes the folder icon too

Self-replicating, can read the name of the folder its in, and launches an application w/o your consent (I think). Sounds like some kind of virus/malware to me.

Yeah, but folders don't open programs by themselves or normally, applications do. From the picture, the folders are actually applications, but they trick you into clicking them b/c they look like folders. The system doesn't usually allow programs to launch themselves, but if you don't pay attention, you would click it to see what is inside the folder and then it unexpectedly launches whatever program(in this case, yahoo messenger). I don't know for sure, but it's very possible that yahoo messenger isn't the only thing that opens when you click that. Also, are the "folders" only on the external hard drive or throughout your computer, and were they there before? You say that when double-clicked, it loads and sends out a yahoo messenger. Not sure what you mean by that, like it loads yahoo messenger and then creates a message and sends it?

I know that, but an application that runs when you double-click it isn't running without his consent.

That said, it is a virus, I finally found it. It's called newfolder.exe. Update and run your anti-virus software, if it doesn't detect it let us know.

From what I know, the external drive already has this (I think, not sure), and my pc just got this.

No, it wont send messages in YM. Idk though, because I didnt log in the YM with any account.
