Some of you may remember that we did this before, and it was amazing. We had a dozen stories with huge write-ups that a lot of people put a lot of effort into. And that thread existed for about three days before the forum was reset and everything was lost, and no one had the energy to remake it. Well nowadays the forum is being backed up more than once every two years, so hopefully we won't lose it again. Let's do this.
Feel free to suggest anything at all for the thread. If you remember it, it's an event.
If you're going to write something up:
- you should have been there. If it's an event you heard of but don't actually remember first-hand then suggest it and someone who was there can write about it.
- try to link back to the original thread(s) if you can find them.
- maybe tell people you're writing it up. It would suck for you to spend two days writing a story and then have someone else post the same thing first. Although there may be some big events, like The Merge, which could be told from more than one point of view, so don't necessarily be put off by the fact that someone else is already writing if you think your bit could add something.
- it doesn't have to be huge. If it's about a particular thread which you think is worth reading then you can just link back to that thread and give a brief summary. But be aware that if someone comes along and does a better write-up, yours may be replaced.
- please don't write stories about trolling or noobs from anyone who has been here in the past year or so (even if the trolling in question was more than a year ago). We don't want to encourage that sort of behaviour. Community trolling I regard as an entirely different matter, which is why I've started things off with Skyblaze101. But this is up for discussion.

Contrary to what many noobs believe now, the first post of the Chat Thread used to be a "tagging post" for mods. It's become something of a custom for them to make at least one edit to the first post to mark their lineage and magic ability to edit posts. Cue hilarity.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on who's reading this, the First Chat Post is no longer this way. Earlier this year, Jeff outlawed it to the post that you see today on account that it was 'ugly' and that it wasn't the proper thing to do. Here is the original First Post:

And here is the first official Chat Thread post: "A few years ago an exercise machine snapped in my face and now I have nigger lips from the impact. What should I do?" as spoken by lgolos. Bet that 2nd post doesn't feel too cryptic now, does it?
Behold:
BSE v1 Round 1
BSE v1 Round 2
BSE v1 Round 3
BSE started HERE in SP, ages ago before The Merge and before FA. It was hosted by Mesmay and as you can see from the threads above, began as an honest competition that wasn't as flashy as it is now. There was no "Special Element" that kept things awesome. And the number of participants was not overblown. Also note that joints were allowed back then.
There also wasn't any noobs who came to constantly update their progress, or spam-and-not-animate, or promised to animate but never did. Everyone that came here, animated because it was a thing back then. Why can't the present BSE be so much more like what it was? There are also quite the number of familiar faces here including some "Pros" and old celebrities from both FA and SP, alluding to a bond that once existed even before Merging. These celebrities were just Average Joe's back then too.
It kinda makes you think why FA was all whiny back then when the Merge was announced when things were actually quite civil in the old times.
You can read on the end of Round 3 what exactly happened: Mesmay got lazy and sold his proposed event to stone, and the rest was history.
So before you go around about how hot shit the BSE is now, and how ridiculous some of the rounds are, turn back the clocks to simpler times when it was just another small event made for fun.
Ashlander actually came to FA to ask for insights on the FA side of things. What he met was the very passive-aggressive Jessiepinwheel who proceeded to brush him off in the coldest way possible. Ashlander had no idea that unlike SP, FA's Writer's Lounge was actually a more dettached community from its animation counterparts, and so sought no help from them. With that dead end secured, Ashlander's story remained in limbo until it was preserved into the stuffed moose that we see today in his sig.

The members this story circulated around consisted of me, Devour, ScatMan, MoD, Myself, Dinomut, Oblivion, Tortuga, The Dude, and Cosmo.
The NTFs (what is considered the old police force of Stickpage) and the mods were too busy trying to have crowd control and organized renovation throughout the entire city. So the administrators who ran the city gathered together our characters into an underground task force designated with the purpose to defend the city of Stickpage in its vulnerable state while it tried to recover. It's slowly revealed that the reason this is, is not because of worry of another spam attack. But rather, the administrators have reason to believe that the neighboring city-state of Shiftlimits, which for a long time now has been deteriorating, could have an invasion on the horizon in order to feel powerful again.
Honestly I have a humongous list of notes on how I envisioned this story would've played out, and by god years later I still get excited reading it. It's just that it's been so long since then that it feels like nothing but a reach into the past. I don't know I just hate how I've attempted to get back into it and then eventually just dropped like I always do.
