The idea of this thread is to tell the stories of forum events from our history. It's so that we can look back on them with nostalgia and so that new members can learn a bit about their noble heritage.

Some of you may remember that we did this before, and it was amazing. We had a dozen stories with huge write-ups that a lot of people put a lot of effort into. And that thread existed for about three days before the forum was reset and everything was lost, and no one had the energy to remake it. Well nowadays the forum is being backed up more than once every two years, so hopefully we won't lose it again. Let's do this.

Feel free to suggest anything at all for the thread. If you remember it, it's an event.

If you're going to write something up:
- you should have been there. If it's an event you heard of but don't actually remember first-hand then suggest it and someone who was there can write about it.
- try to link back to the original thread(s) if you can find them.
- maybe tell people you're writing it up. It would suck for you to spend two days writing a story and then have someone else post the same thing first. Although there may be some big events, like The Merge, which could be told from more than one point of view, so don't necessarily be put off by the fact that someone else is already writing if you think your bit could add something.
- it doesn't have to be huge. If it's about a particular thread which you think is worth reading then you can just link back to that thread and give a brief summary. But be aware that if someone comes along and does a better write-up, yours may be replaced.
- please don't write stories about trolling or noobs from anyone who has been here in the past year or so (even if the trolling in question was more than a year ago). We don't want to encourage that sort of behaviour. Community trolling I regard as an entirely different matter, which is why I've started things off with Skyblaze101. But this is up for discussion.

that everyone but the noobs can relate to: The Chat Thread.

Contrary to what many noobs believe now, the first post of the Chat Thread used to be a "tagging post" for mods. It's become something of a custom for them to make at least one edit to the first post to mark their lineage and magic ability to edit posts. Cue hilarity.

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on who's reading this, the First Chat Post is no longer this way. Earlier this year, Jeff outlawed it to the post that you see today on account that it was 'ugly' and that it wasn't the proper thing to do. Here is the original First Post:

And here is the first official Chat Thread post: "A few years ago an exercise machine snapped in my face and now I have nigger lips from the impact. What should I do?" as spoken by lgolos. Bet that 2nd post doesn't feel too cryptic now, does it?
e up with the BSE? stone you say? On FA? Nope.

Behold:
BSE v1 Round 1
BSE v1 Round 2
BSE v1 Round 3

BSE started HERE in SP, ages ago before The Merge and before FA. It was hosted by Mesmay and as you can see from the threads above, began as an honest competition that wasn't as flashy as it is now. There was no "Special Element" that kept things awesome. And the number of participants was not overblown. Also note that joints were allowed back then.

There also wasn't any noobs who came to constantly update their progress, or spam-and-not-animate, or promised to animate but never did. Everyone that came here, animated because it was a thing back then. Why can't the present BSE be so much more like what it was? There are also quite the number of familiar faces here including some "Pros" and old celebrities from both FA and SP, alluding to a bond that once existed even before Merging. These celebrities were just Average Joe's back then too.

It kinda makes you think why FA was all whiny back then when the Merge was announced when things were actually quite civil in the old times.

You can read on the end of Round 3 what exactly happened: Mesmay got lazy and sold his proposed event to stone, and the rest was history.

So before you go around about how hot shit the BSE is now, and how ridiculous some of the rounds are, turn back the clocks to simpler times when it was just another small event made for fun.
SPP Defense, one of the 2 popular stories that was supposedly to chronicle The Merge as it happened. You know, as hollywood would have told it. It starred alot of Star players from both SP and FA in what was a typical "the enemy of my enemy is my friend lets join forces" kind of plot. It would have been epic, were it not for one tiny detail: FA's side of the story. Ashlander knew nothing about it and so began the project's demise...

Ashlander actually came to FA to ask for insights on the FA side of things. What he met was the very passive-aggressive Jessiepinwheel who proceeded to brush him off in the coldest way possible. Ashlander had no idea that unlike SP, FA's Writer's Lounge was actually a more dettached community from its animation counterparts, and so sought no help from them. With that dead end secured, Ashlander's story remained in limbo until it was preserved into the stuffed moose that we see today in his sig.

tory I was writing consisting of a bunch of well-known members at the time Stickpage had its downfall (it started looking like how it does now.) In the real time of Stickpage, the website, the time of the new layout was the most unorganized I've ever seen this forum. There were no active mods that enforced rules. The majority of posts were all general chat and had nothing to do with animation or even literature. And all in all the member activity was majorly dying down. Basically the community was just receding and it looked like the end was near. Hell the Chat Thread would go 5 days without a single post. Now THAT'S something. So at that time I took it upon myself to use this as inspiration to write a story as if Stickpage was a physical city and was in the middle of a mass renovation project after recovering from a recent mass spam attack.

The members this story circulated around consisted of me, Devour, ScatMan, MoD, Myself, Dinomut, Oblivion, Tortuga, The Dude, and Cosmo.

The NTFs (what is considered the old police force of Stickpage) and the mods were too busy trying to have crowd control and organized renovation throughout the entire city. So the administrators who ran the city gathered together our characters into an underground task force designated with the purpose to defend the city of Stickpage in its vulnerable state while it tried to recover. It's slowly revealed that the reason this is, is not because of worry of another spam attack. But rather, the administrators have reason to believe that the neighboring city-state of Shiftlimits, which for a long time now has been deteriorating, could have an invasion on the horizon in order to feel powerful again.

Honestly I have a humongous list of notes on how I envisioned this story would've played out, and by god years later I still get excited reading it. It's just that it's been so long since then that it feels like nothing but a reach into the past. I don't know I just hate how I've attempted to get back into it and then eventually just dropped like I always do.

I was around, I was openly antagonizing that man/woman on the forums, and he/she complained to the mods that I was bullying him/her and made a seperate thread for it. I wonder if that thread is still around.

Zed, do you still have the link from that time a woman appeared here and said she was looking for her husband who was kidnapped by a Las Vegas mob syndicate named The Four?

Omg that was the best. I'll try to track it down but it could easily have been lost in the reset.

Anyone remember the Newman April Fools joke circa 2008? Thankfully I explained it back then so I don't have to do it again.

Also I love this quote

Quote from Exilement
Rather than trying to have some fun, we should have went with the timeless routine of discussing how many of us are virgins in the poll section, arguing about religion in the debate section or playing forum games in main. Now THAT'S fun.

One of the best things about this thread already (and I'm only in the first couple of pages) is Jeremy and Exilement going at each other.

Holy fuck you should've seen him in the NTF announcement thread. I'm trying to find it but old stickpageportal threads are pretty hard to dig up

Also if anyone remembers the time /b/ raided us, that's a story worth sharing, I think. All I remember is that Ash set it off with a thread called "Let's beat /b/", I don't remember how it escalated from there.

Zulu - on scarecrow threatening assault: I'd love to see ya try, I'm 6'3 215lbs. I'm Canadian which means I fight for fun and wrestle grizzly bears. There's three rifles two hand guns and one bad azz matha of a shotgun (that we call "Da Biatch") in a easy access shelving unit right next to the front door. If you can manage to climb the mountain I live on without getting attacked by wolfs, coyotes or cougars then you'll have a crack at me. Just imagine Mark Wahlberg was 6'3 and not a fag, then I'm basically like him in the movie shooter.
