and if you successfully do the restore, scan the whole computer with a reliable anti virus program to be safe

if it fails horribly, you can either give it to the geek squad, cox, or get a better anti-virus program

Well, Brian, just be sure that if you installed any software between now and the day you're restoring to, you'll need to reinstall it. That's the only things System Restore doesn't keep (aside from the malware, spyware, and viruses).

Also, if your computer's so ****ed up beyond imagine, it might not work. Unless you restore it to date really far into the past, I guess. Sometimes you can't, though.

That might be the virus at it's work.

The constant pop-up notification of my protection status from virus scanners and blockers is somewhat worse than the virus itself...
