I read the story of Smile.jpg for the first time a while ago. I scrolled down fast to read the end of the story, and shat bricks upon seeing the picture at the bottom. Now I keep picturing the smiling dog, sitting on a table or counter staring at me whenever I'm in the dark.

I'd say about 100% of NFL players use their feet if they are active.

Compare American football to real football. Which one uses the feet more and therefore deserves the title football? American football would be much better named destructosport, or maybe something with a cool German word in it like kreig.

More like look at soccer and decide it's pretty gay.

Perhaps, but that has no bearing on the issue. I just think it makes more sense to give the name to either a) the sport which it fits best or b) the sport which used the name first. I realise I'm on shaky ground with the latter but still.
Edit: Checked the internet. Not on shaky ground at all: football first played by recognisable rules in 1519; American football a development on rugby which was itself only introduced in 1865.

it does make more sense, but people won't transition to calling the american sport of football something else mainly because the name and game's been around in the country for a good amount of time
also, some names: yardball, rushball, and handegg
