No, dipshit the point of a helmet is so you can use your head without going braindead, like must rugby players. 90% of those vids were shoulder tackles, your shoulder isn't your head in case you didn't know. Whiplash or maybe a broken rib is the only thing those tackles inflict. The other tackles were the people getting picked up and flipped which would never happen in football unless you suck dick entirely.

I think the problem is that it's pretty clear that many of the foreigners that compare football to rugby have never actually watched a game of football. There certainly isn't "5 minutes" before they have to think about playing again.


The standard argument is that it's "rugby with armour", which is just ridiculous. They're called pads btw. Pictures for comparison:

The second thing wrong with that blanket statement is that it's not rugby. I know there are quite a few similarities, but the two sports are entirely different. I have a few friends that play rugby competitively, and a few of my relatives were professional rugby players. I've talked about it with them, and we've all pretty much agreed that there is no use trying to argue which is better because they are completely different. So basically: actually watch both sports and you will realize they're not that similar.
