I think there was a movie about these kind of places that starred Mila Kunis.

I can understand religious schools being abusive. But this guy states that they came and kidnapped him from his own where everyone he knew could no longer see him and cut contact with everything. And then forced him abusively into a style of life and basically jailed him for 2 years.

Q: Once I make the decision to enroll my teen, how do I get them to Horizon Academy?
A: Your admissions representative will assist you through different options for getting your teen to the school. Each situation is different. Some students will come voluntarily, while others will not. We let you determine what you feel is best for your child.

They pretty much flat out state that they can have people kidnap your kid if you want them to.

4. Q: How often are visits allowed?
A: Visits and phone calls are allowed with the teen reaches the appropriate level of status as an earned privilege.

You have to be there for a long time if you want any contact other than through letters, and the reddit people claim that they go through all the letters before sending them.

apparently they are the kids' legal guardians while they're at the academy, so they can read their mail.

No I mean the parents sending their kids to that academy should be sent to prison by law.

It's an unconstitutional act of guardianship by placing children under care of another by force.

http://www.tennhelp.com/RelCareGiver/legal_relationship#section3

Skip to Section 3. Under question 3 it states that there are other factors to claiming legal guardianship of a child, such as the state of care other children are in your possession. However abusive acts are wrong and if they're under investigation of abusive acts, all transfers of "students" to those academies must be temporarily frozen until the investigation is complete.

The correction facilities aren't given full legal guardianship.

It sounds sort of like a mild creepypasta.

That's exactly what I thought it was. Unless this guy's telling the truth but in a very exaggerated manner.

I hardly think it's exaggerated. Not only can my trusted friends attest to the abusive nature of these correction facilities (from personal experience), but the numerous detailed accounts on Reddit only act to reinforce my understanding of what actually goes on. Not to mention the websites are curiously in line with the claims being made.

I think it's likely that they're telling the truth, albeit with a bitter tone (and with good reason).

Ninja'd. Shit.

So this is mostly directed at Index, but why does it feel like there are no good new anime shows to watch in the last year or so. Maybe I'm too picky, but I have not seen anything that caught my interest. I need something new to watch.

Last good show I've seen was Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. And that was made around 2009.

Madoka, Steins;Gate, Tiger & Bunny, Ano Hana, Nisemonogatari, Another, Mirai Nikki, more Milky Holmes, Gosick, C, etc off the top of my head from the past year. Depends on how "new" you want. I don't see why you have to watch something really recent if it's all already done airing.
