the way you said "Didn't really work out that well" about my own efforts made me think that you used to visit the forum a really long time ago and got to see it go downhill or something, like back when Jeremy and Hyperion posted, but I guess getting an invitation that one time not too long ago explains it. I haven't tried to make the forum active myself in over a year (at least not "desperately", since you could count my signature). The person who did try to make outworld active a couple of times recently was muttonhead, who did the failed thing you're thinking about

one time it worked when I gave him Crazy Jay's account and he decided to tell everyone that the forum was being shut down and replaced with outworld or something, god damn that was hilarious

I believe it was something like the pivot gif you described. At least it was for a while, until I started having someone like Brent make an avatar for me.
