It's pretty great. You pay back like 7% a year or something like that. And you don't have to pay anything if you aren't making over 40 grand a year. But yeah, for me that would be like paying back 1.5 grand a year.

Thats what I meant earlier when I said the only people who would say 'money is not important' are those who are from countries (or in some cases, families) that have it easier than the rest of the world.

Money is important. But I would rather an average paying job that I enjoyed than a higher paying one that I hated.

I absolutely see where you are coming from though. Makes 100% sense.

Aspects of it interest me. And it's one of the easiest fields to get a high paying job in.

Those aspects that I like are better served in the form of a hobby.

To be honest, leaving the course felt like the stupidest choice imaginable. But so did the thought of looking at lines of programming day in / day out for the rest of my life.

If I wasn't as lucky as I am, I wouldn't have the luxery of just changing courses on a whim.

My brother and I had to work full time jobs at night to go through University so we had to do Degrees that would make us enough money when we were done with Uni to support family etc.

I guess we are still better off than some kid in Africa starving to death though.

Damn that would have sucked.

It took me less than 3 days to get a full time job after deciding to change course, which I will be keeping up until late february next year when semester 1 starts. Not sure if I will still be working anywhere while back at uni. Probably not.

You would be suprised how many lazy assholes there are in Australia that don't have a job when they are perfectly capable and there are jobs everywhere. They live off centerlink and the dole.

debt collection / small amount of accounting / customer service / data entry and more officy shit like this at Australian Telecom. The business is made up of like 9 people. So it's pretty good. I find myself twiddling my thumbs doing little to nothing for half the day.

Still, it's good to have something to do in the meantime, regardless of how medial and low it is.

That's not too unusual. Someone from my high school is training to be a neurosurgeon solely because the starting salary is well over $100k a year.
