Not to say I dislike all powerful female vocalists. I'd just rather hear it from a woman who has a sincerely powerful voice. Someone with a naturally booming voice, like a sassy black woman singing the blues. instead of hearing it everywhere just because that's what's popular right now.

It seems to me lately, especially on shows like the voice, they'll pick the singer with the louder voices. I don't follow the formula of biggervoice=biggerstar, because it's bullshit. You never heard John Lennon belt his fucking songs out just to show off his vocal prowess.

I also feel like it sets an unreasonable standard for other vocalists, take note I'm no singer so these dislikes don't stem from personal reasons other than taste.

I'm not really sure how to summarize what I'm saying though. I guess it's a zeitgeist that I don't really like for a few small reasons.
