O_O huh. Interesting. Well, my mom says anything fast-food related is out of the question. I agree with her. Any part time jobs that don't require much, yet still good enough in pay? I take sociology and engineering as electives.

Lol, I've just lost all respect for you. :)
It's not you, it's your immaturity.

@Miracle Those are good electives, REALLY good actually. You want to be an engineer when you get out of college?
as for jobs, your mom is right. I would never want to downgrade myself to the pay of a fast-food restaurant.

Well at least now you respect me as much as I respect you.

And by reading your posts it would seem that you never had respect for me.

if you want people to be nice to you, stay off the chat thread lol.
just a word of advice

I can't say I'm very happy to read this. Generally people are only mean to people who really deserve it. If you feel like you're being harassed, report it and state your case. Otherwise, don't shove people away from here due to your past mistakes and blame it on everybody who views this thread, it's very immature.

:O oh, come on, storm... No one is THAT mean... Anyway, since you guys are talking economics, when in highschool is it most appropriate to get a job? And what kind should I look for at this point?

Sup and welcome to SP. When in HS you should get a job is dependent on your own financial situation and how you're faring in school. Someone who knows you personally is probably better able to answer your question rather than someone here, unless you feel comfortable sharing your own information with us. I'd still recommend the former.

Nope. If the job doesn't require much then someone will be willing to do it cheap.

Don't write off fast food jobs if you're just looking for temporary part-time work. I did pizza delivery during my undergrad and accounting for tips and petrol it probably averaged around £8.50 ($14.30) per hour. More on a good day - the largest tip I got was £30 for fifteen minutes' work. Plus I really enjoyed it. Before that I did call centre work, and I have to say it was boring as hell.

Edit: Just read back and saw the word "highschool" which I assume means you'd be too young for the delivery jobs. The in-store jobs aren't as fun because you're not sat down or listening to music, but they still have their good parts.

Depends on the type. Technology seems to be my strong point, but my father says enviromental is where it's at. The thing is, I don't exactly enjoy going outside. Bio engineering always makes me quiver, God knows why. Chemical is worse. I was thinking about becoming an intern for newspaper company. To tell you the truth, writing is what I enjoy most in life.

Zed, pizza delivery actually sounds good. And the reason why I didn't want fast food (Ex. Mcdolans or burgerking, pizza is perfectly fine since it's actual food) Is because my grandparents wanted to help me out while I'm in college, I simply need a nice job to get me off my feet. The pay you said actually seems fair. Is that just for a specific company, or is this for all pizza joints? Thanks.

Now that I think about it that's almost how I always greet new members, huh.

Zed and Hewitt, I remember their first posts and greeting them.
Hey! Welcome to stickpage, man. What's up?

I always get filled with hope that the new members could be as great of newbies as Zed and Hewitt where.

If you're in highschool, the likelihood you'll be hired for a job that's more advanced in terms of payment than services like fast foods is astronomically low (I'm guessing you live in Atlanta). Very few jobs will hire highschool students when there are generally more qualified entrants (as in those who have graduated or are in college at the moment). The only way I could see a student getting a job at that age is if your family has connections to a company that they could get you in. Not trying to sound harsh here, but I'm just trying to sound realistic. There's nothing wrong with getting a fast-food job at your age. A lot of students don't even have jobs when they're in college. Also, don't think if you're applying for a fast-food job now you'll be keeping that job for the rest of your life. It's a temporary thing I assume so you don't need to worry about it.

This made me remember my actual first post so I went back to find it. You'll never guess what I apparently did a few years ago.

I saved all the motherfucking SkyBlaze101 quotes is what I apparently did a few years ago. You're welcome. (The links are all broken but the quotes stand on their own.)

(Also, if you're looking through my old posts, don't forget I was a cunt when I first got here and I was trying to sound smarter than I actually was)

My best friend works at a local Wendies*fast food joint* and he has a few co-workers that are still in highschool.
But the adult/veteran workers fucking hate the highschoolers and think the company should hire someone else who might be worth a shit.

He has another co-worker that is just out of highschool, but supports his family and works like hell. They like him.

Why? Should I?

...are real debates held in there? If so, since when?
