It also wouldn't be hard to write a story that wouldn't take long to animate :p

Yeah I don't get all this "it can't be done" sentiment.

Hows your darkness one coming along? We've already got 6, far more than what I anticipated for the first day.

I'm just about done actually. But it turned out long. Hopefully it's still good though :)

I'm sure it'll be great. We've actually had some rather creative interpretations so far, by Stickpage standards.

If I knew jack shit about animating, I'd be one of the first to start animating the wrhgs. But, as it stands, I think I'd be better at trying to script the fights themselves.

When you say script fights, how does it work? Is it like a screenplay ala "Red guy kicks, green guy dodges it. Green guy throw a punch that catches red guy in the jaw" ?

I think it would go somewhat like that. I mean, that's essentially the barebones of the fight, smack on a shitload of detail and you have wrhgs.

Does anyone know about the old FPL site? Fantasy Power League.... on electricferret... they hosted Comic Book Rumbles too... is anyone here familiar with that?

They used to do similar stuff.

Does anyone mind explaining how wRHG works? So you both create characters and then duke it out just like a regular RHG right? Are there limits to powers? A template for creation? Any specific points system?

It's pretty much like that. You make your wrhg, the community votes on the viability. If you get challenged, write a fight. Pretty simple, for the most part.

Yeah but are there limits to how many powers you can have? Any limit to how diverse you can be?

Not officially. If it's balanced fairlyyou can be diverse as hell.

How do you decide that it is balanced? I'm sorry if I sound stupid, but the concept confuses me, and I'd really like to get into this.

Usually you just use your best judgement, unlike rhg though, the wrhg community can contest your abilities and basically push you to change them to make them fair. Which makes sense since it's much harder to properly write a situation where a character who couldn't realistically win against another does without people calling bullshit than it is to animate it.

So the whole strengths/weaknesses system has no balance apart from whatever you as the author choose to give it?

Yeah, that's the gist of it. There's no set system for making balanced powers, but most of the time people do their best to think of what works and make a pretty well balanced character.
in wrhg at least

I really want to create one but I fear that the whole system might be a bit too ad-hoc for my tastes. Or that my style of writing (and in effect my wRHG) would be demolished in favour of more conventional "I roundhouse kick you in the face with my fire-leg and break an ice hammer over your head" style. But I am very, very tempted to try it out.

Once you create a character, where does it go from there?
