Incidentally, the Goodfellas 25th Anniversary was celebrated a few days ago at the Tribeca Film Festival. I saw some cool pics on Facebook, they had a cast reunion and I think De Niro, Liotta and co did a panel discussion on the film.

As a 24 year old male living in Illinois I wouldn't describe my current situation as a citizen of the US a "mess", things could be worse.

It's pretty much a definite no salt, those are pretty isolated incidents
although the educational system here has always been bad
and by always I mean "It didn't start recently" not literally since the country was founded

I don't know what reference people use when they say the education system is bad though. There are literally a hundred countries with a worse education system. Americans whine about being 'uneducated' without realizing that half the world is still grappling with being 'illiterate'.

Yeah. I think the biggest problem I have with liberals is that they feel it is a country's duty to force-feed education to it's citizens. Thats goes against the pioneering, self-motivating spirit of what made American great.

In countries in Asia and Africa, there are kids who WANT to learn, who work their butts off who simply just don't have the right resources or the right infrastructure to get a right education. In America, in most cases, if you really work your ass off for a good education, you will get it. Thats how the whole stereotype that Asians are really smart came about in America anyway. Its not that these Asian kids are any smarter, its just that its part of the culture to try harder.

Not as young as one would think. A young society, for sure. But actually older than many countries who became free of British rule only after World War 2.
