Well, I used to play LoL. I stopped playing videogames for a few years, and recently got a new laptop. After getting my new laptop, I got DOTA and convinced my friends to play DOTA as well and we have been having some fun with that.

It is essentially LoL but with all the champions unlocked and free all the time. Also, no runes or summoner spells. It seems more fair to me.


That being said, I do think LoL is more appealing to a newbie. It's probably easier. Dota is very punishing if you mess up.

It's different. Personally I enjoy LoL a lot more but I dislike that every person is locked. It has no summoner spells but each character is overpowered in their own way. The crowd control is a lot deadlier in DOTA, and when you die you lose your gold. Also: last hitting. Last hitting in DOTA is a lot harder personally because you can't read out your damage after hitting once (there are no number counters that I remember) so you are always kind of estimating. Aborting last hits/turrets makes it even more confusing to a newcomer, so it can be hard to pick up.

so I've discovered the correct way to play Civ 5.
1) Mute in-game music
2) Play your favorite tracks on a huge fucking Spotify playlist
3) Talk to everyone on your Steam friend list while you play
4) Alt+Tab porn in between turns
